So much for the "best weekend in football". Every one of these games has been completely one-sided.

toouncommon, was busy exchanging texts with my friend in Minneapolis. Loved the spanking the Boys got. Goes to show what a balanced offense, a defense that values size and a head coach that is not willfully stubborn can do.

That said, the Eagles are still not as good as they are but 3 points???!!??? Talk about bitch slapped.

I agree the games weren't competitive because several teams already shot their loads last weekend. The expectations weren't met because sometimes you get illusions of another teams' caliber based on victories against other teams. Like the Cards. 14 points? ONLY? They had 90 points dropped on that defense in two days. So, it wasn't just that the starting corners got injured early.

As for Dallas, they faced a team that could stop the run AND could get after the QB without blitzing. That meant Romo was basically cannon fodder.

I do admit, I didn't think these games would be this one sided.

As for the Baltimore/Indy game, there were several PI non-calls for the Ravens that really altered the make up of that game. Even HAD they been called, it wouldn't mean Baltimore would win, just would be a closer game.

NEAG, my fiance was asking what Brooking was doing going over to the sidelines like that, and I told her that he was pissed that Minnesota was running up the score. "What a baby he is!" she screamed.

I may make a football fan out of her yet.

Watching the Jets, I wish the Eagles defense could tackle HALF as well as they do. I also wish the Fat Man had more balanced play calling like the REST OF THE LEAGUE.

NEAG, it is really a combo of things. One, the Eagles are HEAVILY unbalanced on offense. Clearly, that impacts the results of the game. Second, Minny's defense stacks up well against Dallas AND they had rest and were healthy going into the game. The Eagles have NO running game. Just watching the Jets pound the rock the WHOLE game shows you how it wears down a defense because their ability to run the ball was far different in the 4th quarter. Dallas was over confident going into the Minny game and were under-prepared. The Eagles

One other thing, I remember hoping the Eagles would get Leonard from the Ravens when he became a FA. That guy is ALWAYS around the ball and has excellent timing. He's not the fastest guy but he is solid in the secondary. The Jets rarely bit on the screen. The heads up play by Leonard against Sproles in the second quarter was amazingly coached defense. He was coming on a safety blitz, saw the linemen pull from left to right, adjusted his attack and tracked down Sproles in the flat. Of course, the fact that the Jets are solid tacklers helped.

Is there any way we can bring back Childress to replace Fat Bastard?

It's hilarious to watch how FB's 'proteges' can learn how to use a balanced attack effectively, but he himself will never learn. All during that Minnesota game, you could not be sure that they wouldn't run or pass on any given down in any given situation. Kept Dallas on their heels the entire game.

As far as the Dallas/Minny game, I feel that in the end, Romo is who we thought he was. In the face of consistent pressure from the front four, He really isn't the calm-cool-collected-ball controlling- accurate passer he was reported to be. I think that their late season run plays into that as well, as he really didn't see that kind of pressure during that spell.

Of course, the Eagles were largely responsible for not applying that kind of pressure.

Boy are you wrong! Just check out Dave Spadaro's take on the matter.

The quick summary is:

- Injuries, lack of home field advantage, and "any given Sunday" sunk the Eagles.

The Cowboys getting smoked after smoking the Eagles twice in a row doesn't show how far the Eagles have to go, but instead shows the Cowboys aren't that great/much better than the Eagles.

Sounds like he is writing to a bunch of 1st graders.

This should be in the "no shit" thread.

1) Home field is an advantage in the playoffs, and so is a bye week
2) The Eagles' defense has more needs than the offense
3) You win and lose at the line of scrimmage
4) Injuries ARE a factor
5) You need to play an "A" game in the playoffs
6) The quarterback has to make it all go
7) The running game has to be reliable

And if Dallas would have gone in there and beat up the Vikings, the mantra on the Eagles web site would have been:

- It's all about "getting hot at the right time".

- Dallas beat the Eagles, but that's because Dallas can beat anyone right now...Eagles are still close.

- So much for the running game. Minny has the best back in football and couldn't beat the Cowboys.

Funny how he forgot lack of homefield advantage was because they laid an egg the last game of the regular season and how they were consistently crappy the following week with no new injuries.

Hooky, you said something important about Romo that could easily be applied to McNabb, we KNOW who he is under the brightest lights. A wilting, unfunny jokester who has terrible dance moves and is trying to convince the world of what we know isn't inside him - confidence and focus cuz it's been replaced by him scrambling to think of a stupid retarded-TO entertainment option. At least TO's stunts could be funny.

AP had what, 63 yards? Running 23 times?

Running 'effectively' requires running 'more'.
