Kyle Orton DID engineer a 97 yard GW drive against the Eagles last year (or 2 years ago?), and is looking to be better than Cutler in the trade.

It's going to be tough, because Marshall's a good player, Dawk will be in overdrive, and the Broncos will be playing for their playoff lives. And this has the feel of one of those letdown games, especially since the game next week against the Cowboys will probably be for all the marbles. I can see the Eagles looking ahead to that, and a slight letdown after clinching a playoff spot.

Plus, it's an AFC team, and we all know Reid's troubles with the better conference.

On paper, the Eagles should win this game. But they are due for a letdown in this streak, and they always have a tendency to make things interesting when they don't need to be.

This actually has the makins of a bad spot for Philly.

Looking ahead to what appears now to be a showdown in Big D for the East, and the importance of that game's already been discussed widely -no way they can avoid knowing that should they lose to Dallas next wk, they may as well stay put in town cos they'll be playing there the following wkd in the 1st round of the postseason.

The emotional wave they'll have to withstand at first from the Denver D can be absorbed, but it cant last more than 2 stalled or short drives early on or else it could snowball.

Honestly, if Im the Birds and have the nutz to go for it, Id target Dawk and try to get him lined up in coverage. Exploit him and make him play the aspect of his game that involves more thinking and less instinct. Should help curb that edge he'll be on.

That said, I think you may be in for 1 of those 'ugly' wins from earlier in the yr (Chi-town?) where they may even need a surge in the 4th qtr to get the "W". And the doubts will start by 7:23 on CSN's postgame show about facing the suddenly big bad boys the following wk, coming of that 'ho-ho-hum performance" vs the Broncos.

But it's KYLE ORTON throwin that ball around and I have to believe that the D's statline by day's end will be something like 3 sacks, 2 INTs, maybe a fumble (Moreno- had high hopes for him and he has not impressed me as I thought he would).

Bass - are you sure that wasn't Brian Griese in 2007 that engineered that game winning drive?

Whats lost in this whole B-Dawk love fest is that there is another prodigal son returning this Sunday. His ankle is rehabbed and he would love nothing better than to run amok at the Linc. Bluntholder feels like he was underutilized here in his final years and may be correct in that assertion. I have a feeling the boy genius might try to shorten the game and make it a slug fest with heavy doses of cut blocking to open lanes for Kno-Mo and Correll. Mix in some Marshall and you have a nail biter on your hands. Eagles win it in the 4th.

You're right, Redburb - why did I think it was Orton? It was Griese.

Still, Orton's better than most people give him credit for. Not spectacular, but not a scrub, either.

Dawkins ends Westbrook's career with another hit, knocking his clock clean off. McCoy is ineffective in the run game, and McNabb becomes unable to set up Play Action plays again, though not for lack of effort of trying. A few turnovers, one for a score and Philly ends up tied with Dallas going to the final game of the season. This low scoring clusterfuck of a game makes people wonder who we were watching on offense the last few weeks.

Saw the "Barrel man" reference a few posts ago, ...

Barrel Man (real name Tim McKernan) was a superfan of the Denver Broncos. McKernan died on December 5, 2009 of lung failure.
In all types of weather for thirty years, he attended every home game at both Mile High Stadium and INVESCO Field at Mile High wearing nothing but an orange barrel that covered his torso and a cowboy hat and boots. His costume was reminiscent of rodeo clowns (or barrel men) who serve as a distraction to animals in the rodeo arena in order to protect riders who have been thrown. He was the first Broncos fan inducted into the VISA Hall of Fans [1] at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.[2]

McKernan began attending Broncos contests in 1967, eventually missing only four of them. He first wore a barrel in 1977 after making a $10 bet with his brother over whether wearing one would get him on television. He won, wearing one painted to resemble an Orange Crush can. The soft drink brand was also the nickname for the defensive unit of the orange-jerseyed Broncos who won the American Football Conference Championship that season.[2] McKernan retired after the 2007 season at the age of 67.[3]

McKernan had serious health issues in 2003, after an abdominal aneurysm ruptured. After that time he was restricted by doctors to wearing his barrel for one half of play, and then only when the temperature was above freezing.[4]

Retired after 40 years as a mechanic for United Airlines, McKernan and his wife were based in Gunnison, Colorado, but spent their offseasons traveling in their recreational vehicle. Due to the space constraints of living in an RV, McKernan sold his Super Bowl XXXII barrel for $30,000. The barrel, autographed by 49 Broncos from their first Super Bowl winning team, was sold to a Black Hawk, Colorado, casino. McKernan gave 10 percent of his profits to Jubilee House, battered women's shelter in Gunnison.

Finally got through a game of Techmo Bowl without the game crapping out on me.

Keith Jackson...8 rushes 77 yards 3 TD's

Randall Cunningham...throws for 262 yards and 4 TD's and returns a kickoff for a touchdown on an onsides kick attempt.

Randall's favorite target for the day: Keith Byars. Playing TE because Heath Sherman got hurt, he hauls in 4 catches for 194 yards and 2 TD's as the Birds beat the Broncos 60-33.

Now as for today's game, I don't see the scoring being that high so I cut the points in half to make the score more realistic. So my predication:

Birds 30
Broncos 17

Rounded up on the Broncos' 17.5 points.

This has all the makings of a trap game, coming off of a week where they clinch a playoff spot, about to go into a week where they play a tough division rival on the road for the NFC East title and a desperate team in the Broncos coming to town and fighting for their playoff lives.

I'm not buying it though and not necessarily because Dawk is coming back. I think that is something the fans are pumped and excited for, but not something that the players think, "we have to win this game because Dawk is back." I think with Minnesota losing last week and a real good possibility they lose another of their remaining games (probably NYG), the Birds are eyeing up a first round bye and will play like it.

Williams was held without a catch FB. But Barnett did have a 47 yard TD catch
