Sorry i wasnt more clear.
I like T.H. as well, but it seems that the 'steals' they got a couple yrs ago may not be able to 'seize the day' so to speak (to use another "ugh-worthy" cliche).

These arent the kinda quotes you see outta most established players. After 1 day, sounding defeated. (Perhaps thinking he could subtly get his point across he prefers tackle? At this point, I guess I'll hope for that).
Even some rooks don't sound defeated after one practice. At this point, I don't even want to think about it, but I think HD's right.
It's still early, but from what we've seen, will the OLine be yet another problem that has to be worked on? And will 'Max Jeans' Gilles make the team strictly on girth alone?

Maybe I'm just being an optimist here, but I think Herremans played really well as the season played itself out 2 years ago. Last year I thought he was average, but he was also playing on a bum knee.
I think he's better suited to play RT and is a bit miscast as a guard, but I also think he's a borderline pro bowl caliber player at guard based on what we saw in 2006. I don't think he's being falsely hyped by the coaching staff in any way and unless he struggles this year, I'm chalking up the struggles last year to the knee.
What I'm a little more "ugh" about is Justice at RG. Dude might be a complete bust, but I can't see him ever playing guard well. As a double whammy, the guy I was really hoping would take the leap (MJG) has apparently been supplanted in the depth chart for Justice? THAT's more disappointing to me because I've already resigned myself to the fact that Justice just might be a bust. If the "bust" has moved ahead of MJG on the depth chart at guard, that just sucks all the way around.

Buncha
UGHS to address.
1) Winston over MJG?
I dont know about that- I think its more of a "He's tryin to play RG - Max- and lets give WJ one shot to prove to us we should expect him to be a contributor somewhere eventually.
2) I would LOVE TH at RT. I too agree he's better off out there.
3) Winston I will call it now- will not be a guard on this roster. I dont see how its goin to be possible honestly.

I don't see it either, but I don't see the point of throwing him in there for reps.
MJG could use the reps and Justice could use all the practice he can get on the outside.
I mean, why even waste the time? Name the 6-6 315 guards with thin frames (in league history)...just a waste of time and resources, IMO.
Just a passing camp, but seemed dumb to me and I HOPE it wasn't any indication of their MJG opinion.
BTW, I don't know if anyone caught it or if it was posted here, but when Scott Young was out, Runyan made the comment "I wouldn't come if I didn't have to, but I'm playing for a contract next year".
That's the first I've heard him say he wants to play next year...he's always been one of the "I don't know how long I want to do it" types and it's interesting that he now seems intent on lengthening his career. I'm all for it, for the record. He might be one of my favorite Eagles ever.

I would certainly hope that Runyan is back next year. We could be in real trouble at Tackle next year after years of relative stability.

I agree and agree. If they both have decent seasons, I hope they retain both, but I'm not sure they will and I think they'd go with Runyan over Tra.
If they can squeeze another season or two out of Tra, they can re-formulate the backup plan (since Justice is looking like a long shot to pull it off at this point).

I don't think Tra Thomas' back will hold out for another season after this one. I have my doubts as to him making through this one, as well.
Of course, he would be at an age with a history of injury problems that might cause every other team to lose interest, and he could possibly come back on the (relative) cheap. It seems that this is the league's attitude towards vets of a certain age.
Look at a Pro-Bowler like Lorenzo Neal, who is 38 and is getting zero interest around the league, despite the fact that he's still in good shape and has had a string of dominant years. I'd love for the Birds to make an offer to him, but they probably feel he can't handle that one 3-yard pass they'd throw to him every other game.

Lots of interesting stuff in Spuds' OTA wrap-up column today:
"Matt Schobel is ahead of Kris Wilson on the depth chart at tight end, and he is right there with Brent Celek."
(Not sure what to make of this. I haven't been very impressed with what we've seen from Schoboat thus far. To me the above statement is kind of a downer in that the younger/newer TEs are not showing enough to outshine him.)
"Ryan Moats is going to have a very, very hard time making this team." "Also, Lincoln shot."
(OK, I added that last part).
"Jason Davis missed practice on Thursday with an injury, and that is something that just can't happen if Davis hopes to make this team. Luke Lawton is a candidate to win the fullback job, but I have to say I wonder if the Eagles will continue to keep their eyes open to add to the position."
(Apparently Lawton has not immediately impressed. Somewhat puzzling how they're paying so much attention to FB this year. Hopefully, they're not embarrassed by a Pro Bowl year from Tapeh with somebody else.)
"I'm still not sure the Eagles have a fourth defensive tackle. Montae Reagor is that guy right now. LaJuan Ramsey has fallen way, way out of favor. He saw fewer and fewer reps as the spring progressed.
(I thought Ramsey wasn't THAT bad when he played last year. This is a little troubling. I'm not counting on much from the Phantom of the Opera.)
"Kevin Curtis was outstanding, and he may be the best low-ball, slide-on-the-ground receiver I have ever seen."
(Did he just say that? McNabb's got to be waiting outside his office today.)
Lots more stuff as well.

Anyone catch LJ's comments on McNabbs passes that he threw when he was gettin reps?
"They were floating.....sailing overhead."
...lotta air underneath em".
Guess he felt it was ok to talk once Reid admitted that they were shuttin him down.
Hope all is fine headin into camp.
Not worried yet.

Reid said he had tried to contact Sheppard recently without success.
"I've reached out to him to try to talk to him," the coach said. "It was one of those things where I'm sure he's been counseled not to talk. It's a cat-and-mouse game right now, but that's OK. It will all work out however it works out. Sports have always been this way."

Minnesota, I think.
Death, taxes, and Tapeh NOT making the pro bowl.

The Eagles have agreed to terms with three more draft picks, bringing the total to seven of the 10 players selected.
Cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu, linebacker Joe Mays, and tackle King Dunlap each agreed to 4-year contracts.
From the INKY.
Only Laws, Jackson and Bryan Smith unsigned before Lehigh.

So, who else thinks that Jackson's Dad will tell him he is worth more than what the Eagles will offer? I hope the Eagles laugh at him when he does hold out.

I think Reno's done for real this time. I still think him coming back last year was a conspiracy.
He needed last season to qualify for an NFL pension and Reid threw a mormon a bone.

This town actually cheered when Reno Mahe was coming back.
Agreed on throwing him a bone. Now he qualifies for NFL pension, the bum. Like how it took Vai Sikahema to coax him out of retirement, seemingly.

FD- of course.
I was merely tryin to point out the foolishness of the preceeding post- how one could hope the Front Office laughs, thus further infuriates/causes grift between player who is expected to have a nice impact, and the team, is beyond me.
