This is something I've been wondering about from time to time - especially since I saw Cris Carter's "debut" on ESPN, on "Mike and Mike" a couple of months back. (I meant to inquire about this earlier.) Being that Mike Golic is one of the hosts, and Golic and Cris were Eagles teammates for a few seasons - I expected there to be some detectable level of camaraderie/familiarity/"connection"/chemistry/what-have-you between these guys. But, there was NONE: IIRC, the other Mike (Greenberg) did the vast majority of the back-and-forth between the hosts and Cris, and when Golic and Cris DID interact, there seemed to be a coldness (mainly coming from Golic's side). For most practical purposes, Cris may as well have been a stranger who had parked in Mike's reserved parking spot minutes earlier. I don't think there was even a mention of their once being teammates (granted, I wasn't paying close attention to every word that was spoken).

Seems like I've heard other indications that Cris being a "superstar", or a difficult-to-like teammate...which is why I'm speculating on whether Golic hates Cris. Anyone have any relevant recollections of Cris's time w/ the Eagles? What (if anything) did Cris do to Mike? Is Cris an a$$hole? Any scoop?

Carter was a brash young guy who partied a lot and got drummed out of town. Hard to imagine how a guy fitting that description (and a WR to boot) would be close to a guy like Golic, defensive lineman no less.

BTW, Cris is one of my favorite WR's of all time (in case any of you missed my saying this the previous 99 times)

As Fred pointed out, these guys were on different units, so it's likely they never talked to each other. If Golic had any resentment towards Carter, it might be that he didn't reach his potential in Philly, but rather in Minnesota. But that's a stretch... how could you not be happy for a former teammate who turned his life and career around regardless of where he does it.

Golic seems like a pretty affable and easy-going guy. However, he's become more memorable as a talk show host than for anything he did on the football field.

I know Carter is still pissy because he didn't make the hall of fame in his first year of eligibility. Not sure if that played into his interactions with Golic or not.

Wasn't Buddy notorious for pitting the defense against the offense in practice, and didn't the offense routinely let down the rest of the team (until Reggie left)?

Yeah, he was the beat writer for the Eagles, and also wrote Black Hawk Down, Killing Pablo, Money for Nothing, and Doctor Dealer.

Great reads, but Bringing the Heat is a must for any fottball fan.
