I think 57 pages/1400+ posts is enough for the other one. For fucks sake.

We should probably start separating these out between FA, draft, and trades, but we definitely needed a new one.
- Dallas Clark officially franchised.
- RUMOR: Eagles interesting in signing Gibril Wilson (should he make it to FA).
- DeAngelo Hall is officially on the market for the rebuilding Falcons with 1 year left on his deal.

From Mike Garafolo at the Star-Ledger:
*S Gibril Wilson. No new deal for him, either. One interesting note here: The Giants are aware the Eagles will be looking for a safety in free agency. And because Philly plays a similar defensive system to the one Spags brought up here last year, the Giants believe the Eagles will be hot for Wilson. So not only do they want to sign him, they also want to make sure he doesn't land with their division rivals. Can you say leverage for Wilson and his agent?
I can't believe they won't franchise him, though. The franchise number for a safety is less than any positions bu the kickers.

It doesn't say specifically the Eagles are interested in him, but the Giants believe they are.

The CB from Oakland has been franchised, I wont even attempt to spell his name.
From what I remember, Wilson was not a great safety. Am I missing something here, or has the Giants secondary been shitty for the past 5 years....

That guy from Oakland would have been my first choice had he hit FA, by the way. There just wasn't ever a chance he would.
With Wilson, he started out really well, kinda went into a lull, and played well again this year.
He's never been bad, but he's rarely dominated, either.
The pluses are:
- Size (6' 210 lbs.)
- Age (26)
- Know the system and played well in his first season under that system.
He's been a bit nicked up, though, and I think the Giants will franchise him anyway.

Seattle is in a little pickle....
Locklear (spelling) RT, DJ Hackett WR and Josh Brown are all UFA.
They can only franchise one of them.
All three are young and potentially very solid players and play a position of need or upgrade (eventually for the RT).
I for one would like to see them sign Brown, he is very consistent and has been kicking in shitty elements his entire career. The guy has a huge leg and a tendency to kick well in the clutch.

Clark gets a 6 year extension the day after he gets franchised. Supposed to make him the highest paid TE in the NFL, though #s weren't released.
Trufant gets tagged, along with Haynesworth.

Trufant getting tagged was a bit of a surprise just because there was no mention of it earlier in the of-season, but it makes sense.
Cory Williams (DT from the Packers) has also been franchised.
People are getting franchised all willy nilly these days.

For all those out there who don't subscribe to Blast Magazine (who the fuck are you people, anyway?), here's a new report that the Eagles are targeting more than one WR this off-season, with Fitzgerald being their #1 goal. This guy is the same guy who reports on the Gcobb site and reported just last week that a source from the Eagles claimed they were "going hard" after Fitzgerald:
Source: Eagles are loading up for a run
By Micah Warren
Another source confirmed my last report that the Eagles are indeed going after a top-flight wide receiver and that Larry Fitzgerald is at the top of that list.
As I said previously, this will require the efforts of Head Coach/VP Andy Reid, General Manager Tom Heckert and salary capologist Joe Banner, as they will need to work out compensation with the Arizona Cardinals as well as restructure Fitzgerald’s current ridiculous deal. He is scheduled to make $14.6 million in 2008 with a total cap number of $16.5 million.
The source also mentioned that Patriots free-agent cornerback Asante Samuel is on the radar as well. This would dovetail with another rumor that has Lito Sheppard wanting a new contract shortly, if not now. While both the Eagles and Sheppard have said that any notion that they have given him permission to seek a trade is false, Sheppard did tell Comcast Sportsnet’s Derek Gunn that he should be paid like a top corner. Maybe he is a top corner, but it’s tough to tell when he’s on the injury report so often.
While I am not reporting that all of these things will happen, what was clear from my source is that the Eagles are not resting on their laurels this off-season. They want to add weapons for Donovan McNabb and infuse playmakers throughout the roster.
How it all plays out remains to be seen, but this is good news for Eagles fans who want the organization to make the push required to get the city a championship.

Nice for the Eagles to tell us they're loading up.
Anyone see them trading Lito and a pick to Az for Fitz and having them both rework their contracts at once? No? Didn't think so.

Davis doesn't return punts (that I'm aware of) but I remember him having multiple kick returns for TD last year.
I just don't know about him. I'd take him in place of Greg Lewis (who I don't hate as much as other people do), but he's not the answer at WR and I don't think you can take on a KR specialist AND a PR specialist within the 53 man roster.

Don't know about Davis, either. He was somewhat average when he came in for Johnson last year, as his performance didn't keep him in the starting lineup once Johnson got back.
He'd be better than Duckfoot, but by how much?

Bottom line, it doesnt represent enuff of a signifigant upgrade, nor does it reflect an attitude of a F.O. thats been rumored this offseason to be lookin to really upgrade.
This type of move is more 2005, 2006, 2007 stuff.
I'm passin. Want "all in" type of mentality to be whats reflected in the news this offseason-with F.A., the draft, trades?.
All
