Come on you guys are pathetic... How dare you question what any head coach/GM does... none of you have ever been in that position and have no idea what it takes to coach or find coachingf talent... Just look at the moves Reid's assistant coaches; Harbaugh, Spagnola, Rivera, Culley, Segrest, McDermott, now of course Reid knew enough to keep the talent and let the "silver standard" coaches move on...

The Eagles turned one of their youngest groups over to a former intern who never played the position.

I don't think college programs would make that move.

This organization really doesn't care about winning.

They've just sentenced those young LBs to mediocrity, at best.

NC, I don't think I'd do that for a pick up game.

That "hire" would be the equivalent of me handing a janitor errrr a custodial engineer a scalpel and then asking him what instrument he needed next.

Come on Jules you know IF I were to watch enough scrubs or reruns of MASH, you know as well as anyone I could pick it up pretty good, and thats surgery football is easy comparitively speaking...

This seriously explains so much more than I ever thought, I mean the ignorance he is showing makes it clear why Culley is still "coaching" the WR's.

so basically you guys are saying that spikes may not have all that much to learn from a marketing intern/gym teacher about the middle linebacker position?

that shuey may not be completely qualified to work gocong through the complexities of his continued transition from college DE to pro SAM based on his semi-pro saturday games down at the rec center?

hmm.

for the sake of argument, i could almost accept a head coach who never played than a positions coach, if he was a brilliant strategist, talent evaluator and a great leader.

a positions coach has to be able to coach the fundamentals, tell guys were to be and what to expect, at the highest level of football in the world.

how the fuck can you do that if you've never played at least at the college level, let alone high school?

Could someone forward my resume to the Eagles front office?

When I was a kid, I had one of those vibrating football games and I totally won against the Cowboys everytime I played.

At family Thanksgiving games, I played steady quarterback (played QB for both sides since we were short handed). I rocked.

I've played Madden football since it came out. I may only play on the easiest level, but I win almost every other time against the computer.

Finally, I was one of those idiots that actually bought Head Coach and played it for a few seasons.

I'm totally ready to be the GM or the QB coach or maybe even an intern.

I could see even becoming a position coach at the NFL level having little experience playing, but I would think the process would have to begin further down the coaching tree. Getting hired as a marketing interns and becoming a coach does seem odd.

That said, I like the other coaching moves they made.

Whipple is an offensive guy responsible for the last 3 years of Cowher's term in Pittsburgh. Should be an interesting fit...

Otis Smith should be able to provide a lot of hands-on experience for the secondary and Mike Caldwell should be able to supplement Shuey in the LB department.

"Did Joe Gibbs ever play Football?"

From Wikipedia:
Born in Mocksville, North Carolina, Joe graduated from Santa Fe High School, Santa Fe Springs, CA, in 1959 where he was the star quarterback. Gibbs attended Cerritos Junior College and then San Diego State University (SDSU), where he played tight end, offensive guard and linebacker on the football team, coached by Don Coryell. Gibbs graduated from SDSU in 1964 and earned a master's degree in 1966.

In the early '60s, that was apparently big enough to play at SDSU.

And what in the world ia a "Quality Control Coach"? Is he the guy with the airhorn at Training Camp?

Or is he the guy that makes sure Cap'n Andy gets glazed and not jelly donuts at the meetings?

Far as I can tell, they do advanced scouting, put together video scouting for the position coaches to use, and generally serve as position coach assistants.

I think Reid uses them almost like a training ground for future assistants when his coaches move on.

Dear Eagles Front Office:
Please accept the resume of this flaming cockbag. He's uniquely qualified for any position you might have in your "gay porn", "lives in mamma's basement", or "trolls message boards" departments.

Besides providing zero insight, no original thoughts, or any sort of value whatsoever, he can also expend a whole lot of effort making no progress or impact whatsoever. This is why we are certain that he'll fit right in.

Sincerely,
I hope he dies. Soon.
