This is a pretty good article by Ray detailed some of what the Eagles did wrong, what the Giants did right, their flawed draft philosophy, and the players begging for support after hearing the public "we're fine" message from the Eagles after the season.

Diddy killing the Birds

This one is equally good, though much more depressing. it's from not long after the draft last year:

It must be infuriating to the Genius Reid to have someone in his own backyard second-guessing him. Even more so when that person is more respected and more often right.

Do y'all know anyone who thinks Didinger is a fool?

what a morning. pictures of eli's retarded face all over the post as i get my coffee, and now these articles.

and f-d's right; second article is much more depressing. actually, rage-inducing would be a better term.

kolb better be fucking joe montana, be able to kick field goals, and make me dinner at least twice a week.

What makes it even more infuriating is that they probably don't figure that some of these rookies may have been able to bridge the gap (if they feel like it's not that big to begin with) between them and the Giants.

Somewhat agree with the first article. Strongly disagree with the second article.

A.) Blow it up.
B.) Get rid of Reid.
C.) Get rid of McFlabb.

(When you look at the number of several first and second year "in a new system" QBs this season, ... It can be done.)

"It", meaning, bringing in a new QB doesn't necessarily mean "years of turmoil" for a ball club.

Pull the effin trigger!

Ah, but Dean, Reid needs 5 years of grooming for his QB to "skyrocket" into some season ending injury.

I saw an image of McNabb running onto the field and noted the tire around his midsection (shown on ESPN in the context of a potential trade with the Ravens). For shame. Everyday, all you have to do is work out. He can't even do that.

I've learned to enjoy the rage; it's the main reason why I even watch these scrubs anymore. The Dark Side is what soothes me now. Really, I'm ready for the next "Darth Vader" regime to take over this miserable band of simps(aka Rebels aka Reid) and bring order to the galaxy.

I would get rid of McNabb only for a 1st round pick. Otherwise, it doesn't seem worth it. I'd trade AJ if I could and pick up someone else for the 3rd QB. Kolb has got to be "the guy" and the message has to be sent that he's going to be put in if McNabb starts to suck.

Keeping McNabb as the full time QB for those last three games was absurd. You're out of playoff contention ... what are you trying to prove.

I'm pretty much done with Reid. Jules, you've been right for a while about him. He's got no sense of urgency and I think he's benefited from a weak division.

It's time for a change. If he doesn't at least get to the NFC championship this year, I'd say he should be done.

He's not going to be fired this year, next year, or any other year.

They'd need to seriously tank for the Eagles to even consider it, but my guess if the only way they'd let him go is if he retires or resigns.

Continuing with the depression... here's something to add to R-Diddy's insight.

Consider this... in the reshuffle to fill the vacancy left by Harbaugh the Eagles promoted this guy to coach their "up and coming" young linebacking corps:

Bill Shuey

Get a load at his background and credentials.

Then read this excerpt from a local paper on the guy...

"Bill Shuey obviously had to show us something, Eagles coach Andy Reid said in a telephone conference call. I talked to a few guys who were linebacker coaches, and obviously interviewed Bill. I just thought his knowledge of what we do is phenomenal.

Considering Shuey's relative lack of experience playing football, the 33-year-old's mere presence on Reid's staff is phenomenal. Shuey, who did not play football in high school at Liberty nor at Slippery Rock University, initially joined the Eagles organization as a marketing department intern."

Here's a link to the entire article if you're interested:

You too can coach the Eagles

Kolb has got to be "the guy" and the message has to be sent that he's going to be put in if McNabb starts to suck.

He won't have to wait that long - once McNabb tears his groin from doing the moonwalk, he'll be starting soon enough.

And I understand why they put McNabb in there (try to bump up his trade value by showing he's recovered from his injury, and/or get him back to speed for another year), but he looked average in those games (with the hollow #s), and we know he's not the driving force of this team.

This might happen more than we know. For example, Flesh and I have Jed Fisch as mutual friend/acquaintance who never played football, never coached football in HS or college, but somehow landed an assistant coaching job with the Texans and then went on to coach with the Ravens(?) before he got nearly terminally ill a couple years ago. I don't understand why or how but I guess it does happen.

youre making it like he has not athletic experience. didn't you catch that he was a high school gym teacher?

i don't know about getting to the quarterback, but i've got a real good feeling about the team when they go for $50,000 at next year's dodgeball invitational in las vegas.

2 questions;

- Why can't the Eagles seem to look for new hires outside the bleeping NovaCare Complex?

&

- How is one "nearly terminally ill"? Is it like being sort of pregnant?

Perhaps because it truly is the center of the universe. Celestial bodies (like McCaulley and Shuey) continue to orbit it in elliptical orbits.
