well, besides having to listen to giants fans crow til they dont make the playoffs next yr,
this is going to solidify the novacare complex in the belief that going for it and loading up is fools gold.
their new mantra will be. 10-6 is the way to go. you win super bowls at 10-6.

It also means that Bellichek has proven himself to be as much of a horse's ass as I thought he was by leaving the field before the game was over.
Have fun watching that thing blow up & collapse the way that SB losers are want to do....karma's a bitch, ain't it Bill?

The Giants played a great team game. Not sure who really deserved the MVP, since the defense stepped up big overall.
I didn't care who won, but the more I saw the Patiots struggle, the happier I became. I remembered back to all the times they ran up the score on teams and just shrugged their shoulders. Karma-shmarma. I was happy to see him humbled against a super underdog.
Sucks when you don't have the sideline signals to study, doesn't it?

i seriously don't know what to take from this, except that the notion of "getting hot at the right time" is the only thing that matters in winning the superbowl.
how does an organization build around that mantra?
it does feed into the FO's belief that you're best chance is to field a competitive, if unspectacular team every year and hope that one of those years, you're team is gonna be the one "getting hot at the right time".
just an unbelievable turn of events.

Yeah, point taken on the "hot" thing...it's becoming a bit more like hockey in that way.

Also,
Was it just me or did it seem like I was watching just another Sunday night game rather than the SB?

18-1
Brady and Bellicheck both ran into the tunnel before the whistle. Ironically, these are the pair who ran up the score and felt that somebody needed to stop them from scoring. Definition of bitches.

The Giants played out of their minds. Tuck was a demon in the 2nd but McNabbed out in the 4th. Great game.
And, Hook, I did feel like I was watching the SB. Great game. Bellicheck is a bitch for sure.

I just wanted to see someone lose. This way, at least I get to see what it's like being in a city that wins something.

People thought Plax was nuts for saying the Pats would only score 17.
How right he was.

I have no love for Belickek, but he gave his congrats to Coughlin during the end of the game, part I. No need to do it again. Brady, I didn't see the camera on him.
Of course, why should he care what we think? He lost the game and still sleeps on piles of beautiful women in a river of money.
Regarding the Sunday Night game feel to it, I think you're dead wrong. The Super Bowl had less commercials and ended before the buzz wore off.

The Giants D was open over the middle all night. There's no reason the patriots shouldn't have been running slants and crosses all night for 400 yards.

Well what this SB means to me is that even though he is a real punk Belicheat knows football... I mean whoelse knew that you could throw the challenge flag on the number of players on the field... I thought if the refs don't call it it's an oh well, but it is in the rules, I actually looked it up cause I thought he was trying to cheat some how, even though the game was over and he lost I still looked it up... yeah I hate him that much...

Ube, they killed the Gints with the post. Welker ran enough slants to keep them honest. They bumped at the line, and Brady sees the middle better than he can throw a sideline pass. His arm strength was exposed on some of those deeper throws. Moreover, it is hard to be great when you are busy eating turf. Just goes to show he is human too. Easy for him to get incredible numbers when he had 12 seconds to throw the ball on his Statue of Liberty play against the Jags. But he didn't have that today. And he wasn't nearly perfect today.

F4F,

I dont think that is fair to the Giants. Webster really developed nicely for them. Hixon was a dangerous return man. Amani Toomer is an aging Antonio Freeman (still playing with the Pack not a lackluster season with the Birds). Then you have Plaxico. Boss played well and is a solid TE. I mean, that is a scary team on offense. They scored 35 on Dallas to start the season.
Strahan is awesome (but approaching his twilight). Then you have Usi, Tuck and Pierce. A pretty good crew.
This was an underachieving team considering their talent. Their lethal front four masks their more "pedestrian" secondary. They were lights out for 12 weeks....that isn't getting "hot at the right time". They win 3 playoff games on the road and 8 of their last 9. That is a solid second half of the season and they won convincingly during their run up. They didnt need the fortunate "save" from Ben Rothelisburger for the Bus' miscue like the Steelers did. Now that was "getting hot" at the right time.

I'm talking 1st half, Jules. There was nothing but green for 15 yards on the other side of the line all day. It's mystifying that the Pats didn't demolish the giants over the middle in the 1st half. They adjusted in the 2nd half and that's when you saw those post routes.

How long before the first cutesy ad featuring Peyton and Eli as Super Bowl-winning brothers exchanging 'anything-you-can-do-I-can-do-better' style banter? I give it approximately 36 hours.
On an even worse note, this gives Chris Berman an opportunity to say New York FOOTBALL Giants approximately one billion times.
I guess Tiki was wrong about "who couldn't lead a team" and "who was bad for the locker room". Fuck your smug smile, Tiki. Enjoy the Today Show.

ntf.
jules, as i noted after my "hot at the right time" post, i give credit to their rookies; they stepped up and played great all year.
my point was this was a pretty mediocre team with a mediocre qb for years under couglin. it wasn't too long ago that people were flat out shocked that he wasn't fired. flash forward to this season, and it's another slow start.
the are a good team, i think that is clear. but they also had the good fortune to finally gel at the right time.

here's what it means to Spuds:
The Eagles have their list of needs and priorities well researched by now. I'm not sure the outcome of the Super Bowl changed their thinking much. This is a team that could use a sprinkling of help in a lot of areas, but one that is certainly not lacking to the Giants in terms in talent, coaching or some of the intangibles.

certainly not lacking in talent, coaching or intangibles. sure they smoked the eagles twice this year and won the superbowl against one of the best all-time teams, but it's not they're a better team than the 8-8 birds.
certainly not.
