Source: Terrell Owens Owes the Eagles Almost $800,000
"In my heart, I'm getting the last laugh." That's what Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens had to say about his situation with the Philadelphia Eagles when the two teams faced each other last month in Dallas.
Terrell may have to recheck his ego. And his bank account.
According to Bob Brookover at the Philadelphia Inquirer, Terrell Owens owes the Eagles about a quarter of a million dollars.
A league source said today that an arbitrator ruled in the Eagles' favor Friday on a grievance that was filed by the NFL players' union on Owens' behalf more than two years ago. The union had disputed the Eagles' move to recover $1.725 million of the $2.3 million signing bonus the team paid the wide receiver when it signed him to a seven-year, $49 million deal in 2004.
The entire saga dates from 2005, when a disgruntled Owens was suspended seven games into the season by coach Andy Reid for "behavior that was disruptive to the team." The Eagles suspended Owens for four games without pay, which cost him $764,704, and later informed him that he should not return for the final five games.

The $800K gets added to this year's cap and T.O. ended up paying a total of $2.4 million to the Eagles for all his attitude problems.
Wise investment.

In what math world does "a quarter million dollars" equal "$800,000?"

Yeah.... 800 into 1000 is more than a quarter... Ah well... Its nothing but pennies in the long run...
Perhaps he can turn that academy award winning "whine fest" of a post game news conference into a hit TV show.

It's probably the same math that made Owens one of the "lowest paid WRs in football" at that point in time. I apparently wasted a lot of time learning algebra, physics and calculus. I should have been focusing on accounting, as there is a lot more money to be made making those sneaky errors.

My guess is, it was meant to say: a little over three quarters of a million.

No "company men" here... Another swipe at McNabb?
Marvez: T.O., Dallas is picking up your contract option for 2008. How optimistic are you that you can get a long-term deal this off-season?
Romo: "He's finishing his career here."
Marvez: It's good when a quarterback says that, huh?
Owens: "No question. It's very helpful when you have an advocate to vouch for you.
You know he just dissed McNabb right there
In any case, it doesn't look like the Eagles are breaking his balance book- what a pathetic, vindictive bunch of Banners

You almost act like a character- a stereotypical character that I find hard to believe is you, in real life.
You ACTUALLY side with the guy who was WRONG in the way he handled things, supposedly professional, and rip those who upheld their end of the jointly signed contract, and received what was rightfully theirs after the contract was defaulted on?
Sorry, but that seems too "Typical", even for you FB.

P.S.
The only reason I sided with the guy is the fact that he DID outperform that contract- and any half-brain could have seen what was coming... SO, ask yourself this- as the choices the "company had to choose from, do they:
A) Realize what they have in Owens (one year, straight to the Superbowl, we can redo his contract, keep him pacified, and make our run(s) with a suddenly top-tier scoring O
or
B) Make our stand against the notion that "maybe the system isn't everything" and prove that we could have won with the players that we had anyway; Owens wasn't really all that important (as Donnie so gracefully implied for us)
Sorry, I don't side with the "company" on this one- but HEY, you're entitled to your position too. Just don't get all bent out of shape when somebody criticizes them, OK?
Because it's the nature of things, especially when you can't win a Super Bowl whilst claiming "we're doing things right".
So please come down from that high horse of yours, OK?

NO.
You dont get to change the nature of the debate in this thread, or in any you and I go at it in, in 08.
Im doin my part by not engaging in obviously racially charged merry go round type threads, do me this one favor.
The debate wasnt whether they shoulda re done the mans contract- we ALL agreed they shoulda and they handled it wrong when they dug in their feet.
The issue is HOW CAN ANYONE SIDE WITH HIM NOW-after how he acted, despite whether you felt his actions were born of frustration over an unfair deal or not- when it comes to giving back money he was deemed to have rightfully forfeited by a third party, for his childish antics????

I never said he shouldn't give back the money (if he owes it).
I said it wouldn't break his balance sheet as he is about to re-up with Dallas. And the fact is he deserves to be paid as a top 1-2 receiver. I just hope the Eagles use all that money they're saving wisely. Not winning the Superbowl has it's rewards...

I don't give a rat's ass's whiff what antics he engaged in. I just want the Eagles to win. If they do it with a closet homo in TO who acts like a child in the midst of his terrible two's, then so be it. I definitely want a guy who approaches the game with a "go hard or go home" attitude. That isn't McNabb and several other Mormon teammates motto. The latter are just hoping that Congress ammends the context of civial unions and marriage so that polygamy is once again legal! Not interested in bubbles or how uniforms are filled out. Every player can look like Patrick Ewing as long as the Birds win the SB.
