...and his career as well, but most likely he'll ponder & postulate for a while before putting Rodgers on the bench for another season. There's a big part of me that wanted him to go out on top, but I'm not totally sure why. I guess it's because I thought it might be some kind of poetic justice for him to not only go out on top, but to beat the best team known to man in the process.

I guess I gotta buy in to the David/Goliath thing now for the next two weeks before I'm reminded once again that there's no poetic justice in sports.

Plaxico....and just think when he was a free agent the only two teams intrested in him were the giants and Eagles but Banner was quoted as saying that he didn't want to get into a bidding war with the giants ! ....DUH !!!!

Happy that there won't be two more weeks of Favre fellation, but I hope the Pats win by 40. Hate the Giants more than any other sports team.

Can they really portray the "Giants" as "David" in this scenario?

Injuries would be nice.

I cannot explain how pissed off I get when i think the about the Giants dealing Ryan Grant for a 6th round pick, drafting Ahmadd Bradshaw with a 7th round pick this year, and having taken Brandon Jacobs after Ryan Moats 3 years ago.

I mean, what other evidence do you need that your scouting department is getting owned that looking at the Rb position on the Giants and Eagles.

Eli is an okay QB, but they are winning with players the Eagles looked at and needed, but went in another direction or blew the draft pick (Moats/Hunt/Burress).

They have such an embarrassment of riches at running back that they can completely blow Ryan Grant and still have 3 or 4 guys on the roster capable of starting and winning for them. If the Eagles take Westbrook out for a snap, McNabb gets sacked.

There is a reason the Falcons passed on Heckert. As for Giants/Patriots. I would root for Bin Laden if he was playing the patriots. As for Favre, The second coming will come before he retires with grace. He will go kicking and screaming like Marino went out. All this year has proven is not how great the Patriots are, but how pathetic the rest of the league was. Probably the worst year of fottball in the last 25 years

Now you can't laugh at that watch commercial that says "Unstoppable...that's Eli Manning"

I know we Eagles fans like to mock him, but face it he's better than McNabb now.

Time for EAG's annual "player x is now better than McNabb" coronation.

It's too bad...Eli never had a chance.

NO.

Stop with QB du jour you have a man crush on. Eli is on a incredible streak right now. But lets face it his run game and defense are league leaders right now.

Eli? Nope.

He's playing pretty well right now, but he had a terrible season and is one of the least accurate QBs in football and throws a ton of picks.

He's winning (both during the season and in the playoffs) by handing the ball off and watching their defense go to work. He's definitely playing better right now, but he's not setting the world on fire or anything.

Manning was 21-40 with a rating of 72.3 yesterday. Yeah, there were some drops but there were also a whole lot of "where the eff was he throwing THAT?" balls.

How do you think McNabb would look if he had someone like Burress to throw to?

"Do you think he is better than McNabb?"

Yes. Because of Burress/Shockey/Toomer/Smith , a strong running game and a stifling defense run by a guy who probably should have succeeded JJ.

The only thing Eli himself has going for him right now is he isn't making mistakes and he's placing the ball better than McNabb ever has.

I can't wait to see him pwned in the Super Bowl.

I realize I may be in the minority, but I want to see Brady decapitated by Chicklet and Usimenyora.

No, Eli isn't that good. He has two WR targets that are big in Toomer and Burress. Shockey is not that much of a threat. Bradshaw and Jacobs can help steam roll teams. His line is playing reasonably well and the defense has really stepped it up.

I didn't know that JJ's successor went over. Was he an Eagles' assistant?

Even though Shockey isn't a threat, that is 3 targets at least 6'2".

yeah Jules Spag's was one of his D' coordinators, there are now several guys that have left and are HC's, in line to be, or their names are "at the top of the list". Harbaugh took his place on D, a guy who have moved on, Ron Rivera, that I haven't heard much about since just curious what he's been up to...

But onto the thread, I'm actually impressed with the way Eli has played in the playoffs... I kept waiting for him to lose the game, throw that INT or fumble the ball during a sack, but it never came. He is playing just like Grossman did last year... not a good sign for the Gmen...

and to answer the question of who's better like it or not McNabb is still better than Eli.

Also hindering Shockey's contribution to the team is the fact that he hasn't suited up in a month or so.

Selfish!

Hasn't Shockey been out on IR?

Eli isn't better than McNabb, but because of the depth the Giats have, he's not forced to carry the load, something FB will never admit to.

But fd's right - embarrassment of riches best describes the Giants (and not "David" vs. Goliath, as Media Bowl commences). They've also been able to endure tons of injuries on the defensive side and still be able to shut people down. Of course it helps when the other team's coach does a Reid-like choke job in the title game, but that's nitpicking.

BTW, was anyone surprised that Favre kinda reverted back to form in the 2nd half? The coaches and him did a marveelous job all year of getting him not to make any mistakes, and it fell apart in the 2nd half.

This game almost reminds me of The Last Game That Shall Remain Nameless. Thought there were some parallels.

Hasn't Shockey been out on IR?

Since early December after the Redskins game.

Boss has played well since then, but isn't the blocker that Shockey is. They also have Mathews who is a decent blocker.

Eli has played very well. It reminds me of how Rothlensberger played in his superbowl year.

But Eli can't win a game on his own like McNabb can.

I definitely thought Favre seemed resurrect some bad habits he'd been hiding most of the year.

The Giants did a great job on the Packer running game, as well.

Michael Matthews? Certified homo.

Georgia Tech was glad to be rid of him.
