This defense is starting to find it's "goal-line" identity. Hopefully they can carry that over to the rest of the field soon.

Westbrook is kicking some arse in the rushing game. Oddly he only has one catch for zero yards so far, but whatever he's doing...it's working.

Ugly, UGLY, UGLY effing game, but the Eagles escape with a win. They now sit at 5-5, and that record certainly befits a team that looks so good one minute, and so bad the next. Make no mistake about it, the Eagles should have won this game, and the fact they only won it by this much speaks volumes for the state of this franchise. Let the "playoff" talk continue amongst the biggest of homers, and I better get a shitload more beer for next weeks game.

Mikell apparently had an *CL injury, McNabb had the ankle sprain, and Herremans had something happen to his knee at the end of the game, as per Reid's post game PC.

If he cannot play next wknd, and Philly had lost today- the Kolb era woulda begun in 2 wks, after the NE pasting.
I think he'll start next wknd, and 50/50 shot of seein the best Eagles Effort all yr (pointless, but still...)
He's scared to end his career on injury and he wants to end it in Philly - rings or no rings cos he's seen how well in recent history, the QBS like him have fared after cut by their primary team.
If ya ask me, speaks to his insecurity unmasked by him tellin everyone from the press to the fans to Santa that He's the Leader-----guys like that dont really beleive they're the leader....same types dont think they've got job security even after 8 or 9 yrs in the crows nest for a franchise.

Again..IMO He took a dive, and will not be the QB next week. He is thinking of a way out, and just faked it.

I don't think Donovan took a dive. But I do think he folded quick. But I also believe that he probably has instructions from the coahing staff and the medical team to come out for even the slightest mishap.

This is the first year that Donovan hasn't practiced with his receivers in the offseason, and Curtis is completely new. I think at least some of his bad passes and interceptions are due to not being completely on the same page as the receivers.
I come to believe, even more so after seeing last week's screen play, that the Eagles intentionally design plays where they allow a rusher to come free and expect Donovan to side step, buy time, and then make the pass.

The Eagles defense again allowed some big drives.
Special Teams allowed a touchdown!
Still no return game.
McNabb was running again, but the pass game still isn't on.
Tapeh had a good run for a first down.
Buckhalter had an awesome second effort for the TouchDown.
The flea-flicker was a fairly awesome play, but it got called back because of the penalty.
But still not a lot of evidence to be hopeful about.

Let the "playoff" talk continue amongst the biggest of homers, and I better get a shitload more beer for next weeks game.
Sorry I AM the biggest homer on the board and there is NO SHOT the birds make the playoffs...
That being said, I wouldn't at all be surprised if AJ starts next week that the Eagles not only play a good game BUT they might have a shot to win... Before I get hung out to dry for drinking too much kool-aide here's why...
First JJ took steps to fix the Defense, benching Kearse AND if you didn't notice Mr. Kingsford(love that nickname can't remember who here started it) was replaced by Hanson in the nickel package...
Then the other thing is the ability of the coaching staff to actually call a decent game plan when #5 isn't in there, and the fact that the QB that replaces #5 can see that there are more than just Westbrook and Curtis on the field to throw the ball to...
Seeing AJ throw to not only KC and Westbrook but also getting L.J. R. Brown, T. Tapeh, J. Avant, M. Schobel, G. Lewis the ball shows me that he is actually looking around and not just feeling pressure and dumping the pass off... Just think what the team will be like if Reid puts #5 on the bench with the high ankle sprain and gives AJ all the reps for the week. He knocked the rust off today and with a full week of practice, you know what I think the Eagles will actually not lose by 28 points... Which IMO the way the team has played this year is a win...
I know Reid will stick with #5 so it's a moot point, but the only chance the Birds have to not get humiliated next week is for AJ to get all the snaps and call a game like they did today in the 2nd half, control the ball and play pretty stout D... otherwise it's going to be a brutal, depressing, crushing loss... and it WILL take at least a full case of beer for me to be able to sit and watch the whole thing(of course by the 3rd quarter it'll be all about finishing the case and glancing at the TV)

Watching a little bit of the Pats and Bills, it is really hard to see how anyone could win a game against the Patriots.

it's easy OX, drink more beer... just remember bcak to the days of being drunk in a bar and seeing/hitting on a woman that is totally out of your league, BUT because you're drunk it's seems possible... I think we just have to get the Eagles DRUNK BEFORE the game...

I said biggest homers, not biggest homers on the board. There is a HUGE difference. I was listening to Spuds pre-game show, and he mentioned playoffs about once a minute. The NFL shows constantly refer to the outside shot of making the playoffs for the Eagles. (that sort of thing)
I've been around the board long enough to know that this place is pretty damn realistic about things, and no one would stoop into buying that sort of drivel.

On the topic of the Patriots/Bills game, I am amazed at how well their receivers block down field in this game.

By the way, the Redskins almost beat the Cowboys. They played a good game, and were marching down for the game winning touchdown when Campbell unfortunately threw an interception. T.O. burned their coverage 3 times. (I really don't like when he does well).
But it makes you wonder how the Eagles could look so much worse against the Cowboys than the Redskins.

If you figure the Eagles don't have a shot at beating the Patriots and Cowboys, but have a shot at beating the Saints, Bills, and Seahawks, do you also think they have a chance at beating the Giants?

1) Tattoo- no girl should EVER be 'outta your league' when you're in a bar- ever. Its a matter of whether you think she's worth the high maintenence you think she looks like she'll require.
2) If AJ starts next week, does Philly have a better shot than not to pull the upset?
3) Isnt the stage bein set JUST LIKE LAST YR?
Bad weather game at home vs AFC Opponent when 5 goes out (Thanks ENY)>???
Could AJ be this yr's Garcia, only STRAIGHT?!!

Based on the level of play I've seen from the Eagles this season, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't win another game.
Playoffs would be the 4 division winners and two wild cards. I don't see the Eagles catching the Cowboys, so "playoffs" would come down to them being the 5th or 6th best team in the NFC. In my best case scenario, the Eagles still lose to the Patriots (ugh) and the Cowboys (UGH!). That would leave them at 9-7, 2-4 in the division, 6-6 in the conference. (not very promising numbers at all)
Teams ahead of the Eagles right now:
Giants: 7-3
Lions: 6-4
Cardinals: 5-5 (with tie breakers)
Giants remaining schedule: Vikings, at Bears, at Eagles, Redskins, at Buffalo, Patriots
Lions remaining schedule: Packers, at Vikings, Dallas, at San Diego, Chiefs, at Green Bay
Cardinals remaining schedule: Niners, Browns, at Seattle, at Saints, Atlanta, Rams
Granted there is a long way until the playoffs actually start, but if the Eagles played nearly flawless football from here out (yeah right), I STILL don't see them making the playoffs.
