I hope he gets better and never wish ill will on a guy. But I grew tired of seeing him get dragged all over and bouncing off guys like a 3 yr old trying to tackle his dad.

Same thing with missing McCoy - you never wish them ill will or anything like that, but you recognize they're just not good enough for the team.
So Mikell gets to start opposite Dawk (who won't make it to the end of the season himself), and we're here to wait on who they'll sign off the street at SS.
And I think he has played his last game as an Eagle, unless he comes back at a totally bargain basement price, especially with the injury. The fact that he wasn't re-signed after Sunday either adds that he'll only be playing here for peanuts.

Which even further makes letting Michael Lewis go or not drafting a better replacement that much more annoying.

Lewis was about to become expensive though, wasn't he?

Mikell is an upgrade from Considine IMO. Considine couldn't cover me.

Considine is a better player at his position than McCoy was at his. Considine will be back, but likely in a reserve role, IMO.

Well, the guy always tried hard. He hustled to the ball to get involved in the tackle, even if he did usually need help.
Mikell should be okay, but I worry about who will be on the field in the spot where Mikell used to fill.

Considine is blameless. Just like Reno Mahe. They remind one of Scottie Brooks from the old Thump n' Bump days of the Suxers. I can picture Scottie's dad calling him from the garage at dusk asking if he did his 1,000 dribbles with his left hand yet and no dinner if he didn't. You got it Dad!
The ones to blame are the coaches and front office people.
All the best to #37. Just hope he never plays for the Eagles again.

Trying alone isn't getting it done. Simonwho tried, too, and we all know how well that turned out.
Didn't the Eagles try to discredit Lewis at one point or another, in a vain attempt to keep his price tag down, saying he sucks at coverage?

Considine reminded me of Simonwho - right position, can't tackle. And he couldn't cover anyone. Considine = White Toast.

Lewis pretty much discredited himself in the Saints game and then with that PI call against the Cowboys that could have cost them the game if Bledsoe didn't suck.

I thought his coverage was good...his size hurt him tackling, though.
He clearly a small guy and this is two shoulder injuries in a row, now.

Of note, McCoy (another guy small for his position) also struggled with shoulder injuries.

Yeah, no one blames Considone for being sub-par. But it's gotten to the point where are expectations are so lowered, that we're welcoming guys like Mahe back with open arms.
It's almost as if they don't even want to test the FA market, hiding behind the "well this guy was in our system and he knows it" excuse.

Drafting a safety in the last couple of seasons with one of their early picks would have looked like a smart move at this point.....

There were playmaking Safties in this very draft and they decided instead of moving up and being bold that they would trade out of the first (and not get a pick like everyone once did that traded out of the first) get they Golden Boy Kolb. This FO is so infuriating when you consider Bloom was a wasted pick and they have draft picks from this years draft that didnt even make the team.
Thats inexcusable.

a NTF for pretty much any scottie brooks-shooting-hoops-in -his-parents-driveway-as-the -leaves-change-colors reference.
and i agree with with f-d; considine's problem wasn't coverage, it was what happened after the ball arrived.

That's all part of coverage, though. He may have been in the vicinity when the ball arrived, but the guy usually caught it

So if Simoneau was a DB, he'd be Considone.

right, KB, i'm just saying if you break it down, technically he was with the receivers when the ball arrived, he just couldn't prevent them from catching it or tackle them by himself once they did.

I know, I just think it's weird people don't consider the prevention of a catch as part of coverage. I mean, that's the whole point of covering a guy

i think people do, it's just that when you say that someone couldn't cover, you're first thought might be, "he was three steps behind the receiver", which wasn't generally the case with considine, which in a lot of ways, made his play more frustrating.

I guess, just doesn't make sense to me. When I think of a "coverage corner", I think of a guy that doesn't allow a WR to catch a pass. I never thought of a guy that was able to run next to someone, then fall down.

let me rephrase my above post.
someone says, "that guy can't cover anyone", my first thought is, "can he keep up or is he behind the receiver"?, that being the first part of coverage.
if you can't do that, then nothing else you do is going to matter much.
