I always thought Gates was one of the fastest tight ends- that and his size made him uncoverable

Hey, I'm not calling Witten a speed guy, but whenever I've watched Chargers games Gates wasn;t a speed guy either.

He's got great size, great athleticism, runs well after the catch, great leaper, etc. He's an all around better athlete than Witten.

I just haven't ever seen him open it up like a Kellen Winslow, Vernon David, etc. is capable of doing.

Gates game isn't a speed game, is what I'm saying. He does a lot of the does a lot of the same things well that Witten does (shielding the defender, running precise routes, etc.), but he;s a better overall athlete and red zone threat.

He is the better athlete, he is bigger, does some of the same things Witten does using size etc-

But I have seen Gates as wide open or with 4 steps on a guy PLLLLLLENTY of times and for various reasons Ive made a point to catch more chargers games than any other team, over the past 5 yrs, sans Birds.

Gates has speed. Maybe not V.Davis speed- but he isnt without it and certainly has more than Witten.

Watching Winslow block, he's nothing but an oversized WR, IMO

and the Eagles points allowed stat is skewed by muffed punts.

You could have watched every 49ers game this year until last week and you still wouldn't have seen Davis. Their offense makes Reid's offense look brilliant.

This year, the Eagles' offense is absolutely a "rhythm offense," and it's incredibly fragile, as well. I haven't checked the game logs (I'm sure KB will within .5 seconds), but it seems as though the offense only seems to be effective when every single play goes for positive yardage. As soon as McNabb takes a sack, Westbrook gets stopped for a loss, or the offensive line gets called for holding, the offense loses momentum and can't seem to recover, stalling the drive.

I don't particularly fear the Cowboys defense, but I do fear the Eagles uncanny ability to shoot themselves in the foot. I also hate the defensive backs' matchups with the Dallas rceivers when Dawkins and Sheppard are not at full strength. I have a bad feeling that we're going to see some stupid mismatches like Joselio Hanson covering T.O.

However- this is as close to a "BOOK IT" game in my mind as there's been in YEARS.

I recall when DGB would get on here and ask me for the "BOOK IT" - and i had a nice run of those- up til the BUCS NFCCG....
