A pretty good article about how the Boys D isn't really proven much, yet at least...

Yeah but what does 7 or 8 games prove?

Every team they beat probably wasn't any good.

I don't think the Boys have proven a whole lot in terms of beating tough competition, but saying "they haven't proven much" would mean the Eagles "proved nothing" over the past 7 or 8 years.

The Birds have proven the past couple years that they can start out slow and turn things around in the second half of the season. I read that Dawkins is coming back after missing four or five games...'bound to be a big lift for their defense.

I think Dawk may hurt them this week. He's bound to be rusty after 6 or 7 weeks of no game action and we can't forget he was late to camp because of complications with his wife's delivery AND missed the pre-season with a lingering achilles injury.

I'd love it if Dawk could give them a lift, but I think he's actually going to be a weak link for at least a little while.

The D has been playing solid all year, albeit against crappy teams, but they haven't been forcing the big turnover enough. I think they'll HAVE to make some big plays on D to win on Sunday, and Dawk at less than 100% can do that better than anyone that's healthy.

Looking forward to his return.

The Cowboys start games notoriously slow. If the Eagles can jump on them early it could be a interesting game. This is basically the Eagles Superbowl. I think they win a tight slugfest this weekend then summarily lose to the the Redskins because thats the type of madness the Eagles are good for.

Dallas is scoring 32+ points per game. Eagles D is giving up only 16 points per game. Dallas D doesn't scare me that much, I think the Eagles can score with the Cowboys if McNabb plays decent. It really comes down to the Birds D playing well. That said, I'll toss out all logic and say final score 24-21, team in the white jerseys wins.

I think that's what I really miss most when I watch the Eagles D over the last few years. I remember the team of 2000-2003 or so always having a focus on causing turnovers. I recall reading an article that JJ used to have DAILY football-stripping drills (is there any non-softball of a joke way to say that?) as part of practice, and I thought that was pretty cool. It would be great to see more of that.

Of course, most interceptions key off of both a good front four and a solid secondary, both of which are hard to find in tandem on this team in recent years.

Not proven???

As of this week, Dallas has the NFC's #1 defense and the NFC's #1 offense.

I would say, no they haven't proven anything, as the article reads:

"When the Cowboys beat the Dolphins, they toppled 37-year-old Trent Green. When they beat the Bears, they saw Rex Grossman at his worst, just days before he was benched. When they beat the Rams, they got a combination of a wincing Marc Bulger, playing with two painful broken ribs, and journeyman Gus Frerotte, now stinking it up for his seventh NFL team in 10 years. When they escaped the Bills, they beat rookie Trent Edwards, making his second career start. And when they beat the Vikings, all they had to overcome was a woefully overmatched Tarvaris Jackson in his sixth NFL start and maybe his last one for a long time.

They have faced two healthy, experienced quarterbacks who weren't on the brink of getting benched: Eli Manning and Tom Brady. And those two combined for 700 passing yards, completed 68 percent of their passes, threw nine touchdowns and one interception and put up 83 points. Combined passer rating: 141.0."

So they beat the bad team, which they are supposed to do, and struggle with the good teams or at least the teams that have decent QB's...

Sorry but the Cowboys haven't IMO really beatne anyone that good this year, not saying they aren't good because I think they are a very solid team... BUT I don't think they are hands done that much better than the Eagles... The Only position I think wouldn't be a draw or in the Eagles favor would be WR...

I think the Eagles come out Sunday night and not only beat the Cowboys but I think they beat them soundly...

I think the Eagles play the Cowboys tough in this game, but this Eagles team is just struggling too much with the basics this year to overcome solid teams. Just can't see them pulling this out (though I'd obviously love it if they did):

Cowboys: 27
Eagles: 16

The Eagles cant score, they looked mediocre against a very weak Minnesota team. The cowboys are going to beat the snot out of them. Cowboys 37 - Fleagles - 6. Its time to kill all the false hope of making the playoffs. Prediction: McNott has injury ending his season and Eagles career.

Wow, Tat, how does your employer like your being drunk at work on a Thursday afternoon? You've definitely cemented the title of "Chief Homer" with me.

I figure Birds can keep it close with field goals, but Dallas gets enough big plays to pull it out.

Well I think the only edge the Cowboys have over the Eagles is their record is better and that is it.

McNabb just has stellar games whenever he faces the Cowboys....it brings out the best in him. The team as whole plays better vs. Dallas.

The NFC is still wide open....all the teams are pretty much average. There is no clear cut "great" team in the NFC. A few plays is all that separates the haves from the have-nots.

Dallas' defense can be scored on, especially in the pass.

A few plays here and there and Dallas could easily be 3-4, 4-3...etc.

The same could be said for Philadelphia and they could easily be 4-3 or better.

The same could be said for Green Bay, Carolina, Giants...heck, any team in the NFC.

I think Philly takes this one.

I really do want to believe. The Eagles offense has been improving steadily and LJ Smith is back. They won't be taking this game for granted and they have reasons to work hard to put a good plan together and they are believing in themselves, the line seems healthy, and Westbrook is back, and McNabb does seem to be showing a little better movement. The defense has been consistent all year, and they should be able to hold the run, and put up a fight against T.O. and company. Wade is supposed to be a laid back coach and the Cowboys could wind up taking this game for granted.

On the other hand, the Cowboys defense is a blitzing defense, and that's when the Eagles offense have the worst time. And they can study what Spadaro and the Giants did. And the Eagles defense has really shined in the red-zone where T.O. could really make a difference this game.

So I am going to predict the Cowboys make some scores and the defense doesn't do as well as hoped, but everyone is surprised that the Eagles offense in conjunction with Rocca's punting pulls out a surprising win.
The Eagles win 28,27 in a last minute come from behind victory. Eagles Special Teams get decent field position on returns this week, which is what exchanging Pat McCoy for the new guy was all about.

I wonder what the cowboys do when they see 3 safeties on the field?

They'll probably run Barber with three safeties out there.

The Birds win if the Cowboys get too many penalties. Otherwise...

Here's the run down;

- Eagles start with playaction, WRs can't break press coverage, 5 dumps the ball to BWest for 2 yds.

- Reid chalks this up as his 1st quarter run play and goes back to his usual MO.

- I throw a beer bottle through the TV to shut up the Danish commentator and end my misery.

- Monday morning I read about the Cowboys win, 34-9.

OK, first off sarge I am the biggest homer on the level... never denied that at all and is part of why I think the Eagles win...The Eagles have lost to good and bad teams. The Cowboys have lost to good teams but come on they could have easily lost the Buffalo game, and you don't think the Eagles D is better than theirs???

A couple other little things, good ole Wade gave the team a full 7 days off suring the buy week(supposedly first time a coach has ever done this)... Another thing Romo got his extension and what does he do during his week off?!? goes out to Hollywood and is seen partying it up with Britney Spears, now he's had plaenty of good looking women(a huge plus to being the Cowboys QB) but to me this shows a lot of little issues are about to break...

I just really think the Eagles are turning the corner, and now they have something that may get them to all circle the wagons in the whole Reid situation... That thing isn't over yet either, can/will the league step in and do something to the Eagles or Reid??? Will Reid be able to keep his focus and not worry about his other three kids??? I wouldn't be surprised if he steps back from his lead role and takes more time off...

Eagles 23
Boys 17

I honestly see a great game outta Philly's D, Romo hurried and turning it over a few times, gettin knocked around.

Eagles offense should be able to get the ball downfield on those safeties- Im hopin a couple long balls are dialed up early.

Westbrook will have a very nice evenning statistically when its all over.
