This part kills me, ... "the Super Bowl, caused the team much more lingering harm with his misguided arrogance and disdain for common courtesy while McNabb, as usual, took the higher road."

Guess the "black on black crime" reference was McNabb's way of taking the higher road.

Here's another, ... "and the recent World Series Victory Team was embraced by the entire country, myself included"

I got news for ya', ... outside of Philadelphia there was NOBODY wanting to see the Phillies GET TO the World Championship Series much less win it!

I'll concede - and certainly be more lady-like about it than to engage in the brutish level of name calling and profanity that those of limited vocabulary are known to resort to using in times of frustration....you are correct about a couple of things: I am an outsider and I do not know the general protocol for this site, but this was eating at me big time and I really didn't know where to go to express myself, sorry if I chose an inappropriate venue...I tried Yahoo Sports, but could not get the comments to post...sorry also about the spellings, I was in a rush and did not proof read, very uncharacteristic of me - my college QPA is 3.97 (hmmm...right about the same level as your IQ!!) so I'm accustomed to perfection even if I have to rely on spell checker to attain it!! But that is just like a Phan from Philly - throwing barbs aimed at pointless detail rather than facing the heart of the matter (much like the recent mountain out of molehill drama regarding the overtime rule) Sorry, didn't expect me not to take a couple of shots after that scathing rebuttal you threw my way!!...but, I expected to be dismembered and that's okay...I said my piece and I am finished, for the most part. However, you are REALLY REALLY WRONG - about one thing - I do think, in all honesty, that much of the country was genuinely happy to see the Phillies win - no matter who would have won, it's refreshing for a change to NOT see the letters "NY" or "A" on the logos...I mean this in all sincerity, remember, I dwell in hostile (sp??) territory, and most every one locally thought it was a well deserved victory, and most certainly, that the best team won...I mean, how can you not love it when you see Ben Franklin (or was it Billy Penn?) wearing a Phillies cap and the Phanatic writhing in ecstasy...one very cool thing, my son was able to attend a home game this year on a trip to NJ - we will, indeed be saving that ticket stub as a commemoration of this amazing season!! Unfortunately, for the PHickle Philly PHan, the experience of joy was painfully short-lived - how they oh-so-quickly return to their cynical and critical opinions and judgments and turn on their very own like starving cannibals...I'm sorry again for invading your territory...I knew I was setting myself up, but I can take a hit...can you???

All Philadelphia fans are not alike, and for you to claim so reeks of a limited intelligence which clings to guns and religion.

That is all.

Warren Sapp piles on:

Sapp then sounded off on Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb for not knowing the overtime rules.

“When I heard him say it I almost passed out,” Sapp said. “I thought, ‘This will follow you for the rest of your career.’ Your legacy in the league, Donovan, will be throwing up in the Super Bowl, Rush Limbaugh and now, ‘I didn’t know there were ties in the NFL.’ “

Along the same line, ...

Dawkins's, "I guess I'm an idiot too" statement. Why is it that suddenly EVERYONE feels a need to speak out as opposed to focusing on the matter at hand, ... trying to win a football game and keep from being eliminated from playoff contention?

Dawkins's, ... a Philly fan favorite that has virtually been given a pass by the media during his obvious decline in performance. What is he thinking? Why even risk becoming involved in something that should just be allowed to go away?

Anyone given any thought to the fact that if the Eagles, (players, Fat bastard) simply didn't talk about the matter it wouldn't have become an issue in the first place?

Reid, ... no control. Eagle's players, ... no common sense.

right, i think what's lost in all this is reid's culpability. if half the team didn't know the rule than i'm guessing a good amount of players around the league didn't either. ok, seems weird, but whatever. it doesn't come up all that often in the course of a career, and these guys aren't fans, so players may have a kind of tunnel vision when it comes to certain aspects of the game.

but WTF is reid doing by not making sure every player on the field knew the deal sometime before overtime, or at least mcnabb? wouldn't that at least be part of the conversation you have with your QB before the coin flip when discussing strategy?

I don't think it would've been as big an issue - the tie would've been a case for their offensive ineptitude rather than a perceive lack of urgency.

The coaching staff is still getting off scott-free - even if 5 didn't know the rules, there was no sense of urgency, no changing up the gameplan, nothing.

So what happens if they lose to Baltimore? Do they blame the media for not changing the subject (even though the players themselves keep talking about it)? Or do they own up to the fact that they're just not as good as advertised?

Asskiss was defending Reid, saying that the HC is going over so much stuff that he shouldn't have to tell the players what the deal is. That's really not an excuse, because Reid feels the need to control everything. Can't be the point person and be defended if someone slips by.

But of course, the really good HCs are able to move on the fly.

Did McRadio really imply that there are coaches who don't know the rule?

I find that very, very hard to believe.

How can they not know the game ends in a tie? Don't they actually announce it before the overtime coin flip?

"The thing about it is that now other people are saying they didn't know it either," McNabb said. "Am I wrong for that? No. Should I have known the rule? There are a lot of coaches, officials, players that don't know.

"I think 100 percent of everybody in the league knows now. I'm kind of a trendsetter. I've kind of set a trend."

Can't even take the blame for coming out and saying something like this.

But why would anyone expect McNabb to know anything about taking responsibility, when the coach has been doing ti for him for almost 10 years?

Well, McNabb wasn't out there for the coin flip. Their captains (Akeem Jordan, LJ Smith, and Brodrick Bunkley) must have forgot to tell the rest of the team.

They announce the rules of overtime out loud, but I imagine McNabb wouldn't have heard that since he was probably huddling with Reid/Morningwood.

McNabb told Oliver something last year, and she reported it on the sidelines, and then he came out and said he didn't say it.
