Not unless Curtis plays every spot on the D-line, can produce as a running back if Westbrook goes down, and can play a litle linebacker.

Is CanadaRam out there anywhere?
I need some answers on why Curtis is supposedly so fast but his yards per catch don't seem to back that up.

Maybe he runs the BYU offense better than Stallworth.

I didn't realize he only had 470 receiving yards last year.

Was he out for an injury?
Is this an example of a good player who couldn't crack the starting lineup, or another James Trash?

Even by 3rd receiver standards, those are not good numbers

From CBS Sportsline:
"I've watched the Eagles in the past and I'd definitely like to be part of a scheme like this," Curtis said last week while visiting the team. "They didn't get real specific about (my role), but they want me to come in right away and help them out at the wideout position."
Looking further into his #s, he played all 16 games the past two years, and had 800 yards two years ago, better than his # now.
Egads.

Well, you can look at this as a plus or a minus, really.
2 years ago, Bruce was hurt quite a bit and Curtis got to start for a few games. When he started, his numbers went up.
Basically, he got a chance to step up and did.

Or you can look at it like that was in a different offense with less pressure, since he had a true #1 across from him.

Figured as much, but you'd think he'd be a bit more productive the following year.
I'm not bashing the move based on Curtis (and those #s are pretty bad), but I don't understand how you can offer a 6 year deal to someone who won't be your #1 (unless you're really thinking that Brown should be the #1 here by hook or by crook, but there's Mr. Conspiracy Theory speaking out of turn again), when you had a chance to offer an incentive laden deal to someone who would've been your #1.
Either way, he does replace that deep threat the Eagles need so badly.

You absolutely can.
I'm not defending the guy as a superstar or anything, but just pointing out that his numbers didn't just plummet for no reason or poor play...it was being put back into the 3rd WR role.
I just looked up his number as a starter in 2005 and in 9 starts he had:
42 catches
598 yards
4 TDs
If you want to take it another step and extrapolate those numbers over a full season, it would translate to over 1,000 yards.
Here's the thing, though...
I make fun of the Eagles for saying they are "so fucking high, dude" on Avant and Baskett, but I do like both of those guys.
If Brown can maybe take the next step to being a 1,000 yard receiver and Curtis chips in with 800, I'd be fine with that. I do want those other guys to get their chances, too.
BTW, Curtis turns 29 in July (got a late start because of his mission, you know).
He was a freak in college and viewed as the heir apparent to Bruce in St. Louis, so we'll see how it goes. Solid addition, but would have rather had Stallworth.

I didn't say he replaced it "adequately". I still think Stallworth would've been the better choice, plus he has the rep.
The biggest thing I hear about him is that he's fast, but not Benard Berriman "Get Open at Any time" fast.

This is what I'm not sure of. His yards per catch are pedestrian, but he's known as a speed WR. He ran multiple sub-4.4 40's before he was drafted, but it doesn't seem like that speed has translated to the games.

B/c they don't want to waste that much on a guy who is probably still their 3rd WR

I still can't get over those #s. And they didn't want to offer even part of that for Stallworth?

Banner on WIP, theywould have signed stallworth to same contract he signed in NE. When asked why they didnt give philly last rights, Rosenhaus told banner 18 didnt want to play for philly. I dont think banner is a lier. Why they WAIT to see what the player gets instead of taking the lead is my concern.

Un. Fucking. Real.
Okay, that kills my "they wanted to go with their own guys" theory. I guess I need to change that to "they wanted to go with their own guys and various Mormon castoffs."
Sometimes, I really fucking hate this team.
