Of course, the Skins have money to burn because ninnies pay for the opportunity to watch them in training camp, so I'll retract my "horribly" part.

Bucs corner going free-agent
Posted: Sunday January 27, 2008 07:47AM ET
Brian Kelly, the Bucs' bookend cornerback who played opposite Ronde Barber for the past decade, said he plans to become a free agent. Kelly, 32, is scheduled to earn $3.2-million in 2008. But he said he plans to "buy back" the final year of his contract by exercising a $480,000 option in the second week of March.
I'm only posting this cause the Eagles need help in the secondary and I'd rather have Ronde onthe team than on another team, simply because in the play-offs McNabb seems to really like throwing to him... Seriously would he be worth taking a look at???

The Eagles should sign Rhonde Barber as a receiver. Rhonde Barber won't intercept McNabb anymore and McNabb 'll have a playmaker to throw to.

in the coaching movement dept. one of the new eagles' assts is a guy named whipple, who was the asst coach with pittsburgh who got rothliesberger up to speed quicker than expected. apparently cowher loves him and didnt promise reid he wouldnt try to steal him back if he comes back to coach.
according to mark eckel who was on 610 this morning, he thinks its a great hire and every place he's been, the offense has had a serious upswing after his arrival. eckel seldom praises anything this regime does, so he must be a significant hire.

Not sure where to put this, but it looks like the Birds can afford to keep Reno for another year.

I don't think you can call what the Skins do bad business until it actually affects their dealings on a year-to-year basis. They don't care about throwing away money, so that doesn't matter
I agree to a point...wasting money doesn't matter to me unless it affects business.
However, think about the players they were unable to keep because of their free agent spending?
They happily drop huge money on a guy like Andre Carter and allow Antonio Pierce to leave the fold and go to the rival Giants. I'd almost be willing to bet that if Pierce was a free agent FROM the Giants that same year, they would have ponied up to sign him.
They traded the best CB in football AND a high 2nd round pick for Portis, who has been a good, solid player (but nothing close to Bailey).
They let Fred Smoot walk to the Vikings and gave the exact same contract (literally a million less) to Shawn Springs. They turn around 2 years later and re-sign Smoot to the same deal they refused to give him a couple years prior.
They let Walt Harris walk to the 49ers in FA and he immediately became a pro bowler.
They signed all those WRs and lost Dockery in FA.
Arrington was another guy who left because of a contract dispute.
It just seems like the grass is always greener on the other side for them. Once they have a player in-house and see his flaws, they refuse to big as much money for them, but they'll do anything to pay for players from other teams.
They've had to let some players go because of money, but it's more like a mental block for them. They'd a be a better team without FA.

Anyone listen to Larry Fitzgerald on WIP w/Wolfman?
-He wants to be traded out of Arizona,
-He would love to play in Philly for the rest of his career.
-Philly is on the top of his list for places he would want to play

There's some nimrodic rumor floating around that the Eagles offered their #1 pick for Fitzgerald. Not sure if they would do it AND pick up the rest of his contract.
Although, with Millen and his stupidity, a 2nd may be all it takes to land Pizza Roy...

why in the world wouldn't the eagles give up a first round pick for a 27 year old superstar WR? They should do it in a heart beat. This is really something to take a look at. Although the guy grew up in Minny, getting Fitzgerald would be the best gift the Eagles could give their aging QB and young future franchise qb. GET ER DONE

Not to mention, Monday, Fitz was quoted as saying he wants to stay in Zona.
Who wouldnt in his shoes- he's owed some ludicrous amount due to contract that they're likely goin to have to restructure in order to keep him this yr.

FITZGERALD WANTS TO STAY IN ARIZONA
Due to his performance during the first four years of a very good but not stellar NFL career, the Cardinals owe Larry Fitzgerald a base salary in 2008 of $14.592 million.
For one year. $14.592 million.
Factoring in the prorations arising from his signing bonus and option bonus, Fitzgerald's cap number for 2008 will be a whopping $16.485 million.
The technical term for Fitzgerald's current posture is "leverage out the ying-yang." The only way to reduce his cap number is to sign him to a long-term extension, which will require roughly $25 million or so in guaranteed money. Then again, with $14.592 million in money that becomes guaranteed as of Week One of the 2008 regular season, Fitzgerald might be able to get even more than $25 million on his next contract.
Then again, these are the Cardinals. The poster children for "pay as you go." They don't like to use big signing bonuses, because they prefer to take their cap lumps in the current year. So while that 2008 base salary might make other teams scramble to extend the player, the Cardinals might simply shrug.
After all, $16 million in cap room to Fitzgerald is $16 million less in cap room that they'll have to give to someone else.
But if the Cardinals decide that a receiver doesn't merit that kind of a one-year salary and if they choose not to pay to him the kind of a long-term deal that he's in a position to command, trading him becomes an option.
For Fitzgerald's part, however, he doesn't want to leave. "I want to be a Cardinal," he said on Monday. "I enjoy it here. I love my teammates."
If that's the case, then he might have to give up some of that leverage, work out a reasonable deal, and essentially take less money than he could get elsewhere to stay put.
It'll be interesting to see how the Cards play this one. They created this mess by signing Fitzgerald to a contract that resulted in such a gigantic jump in his salary. How they clean it up could be one of the more intriguing stories of the offseason.
Especially since a new deal for Fitzgerald likely will cause Anquan Boldin to ask about an "adjustment" to his own contract, which runs through 2010

I can't see the Birds giving up both their #1 precious AND $16 mil (which blows their chart out of the water for how much they pay a player at their position) for Fitzgerald.
