In that case, you GOTTA go for him, if only because you keep him out of the hands of the enemy.
Although, that many egos on one team is pretty rough.

Not really sure what to make of the coaching changes for the Eagles.
McDermott gets moved back to secondary coach? Is this saying that he is just a superior DB coach or is it an indictment on his abilities in coaching LBs? He must have done at least a tolerable job last season as the younger linebackers certainly seemed to improve with every game.
What about Mr. Whipple...I guess FB and the Chin had a conversation about him and both agreed he is good.
I'm just waiting to see what happens with the ST coaching now, as they never seemed to get anything right in any game last season.
You know it's going to be a long offseason when I'm already hurting for Eagles football news enough to care about assistant's assistant coaches...

(I would not be happy at all if the Cowboys got Roy Williams from Detroit. If he's available, I want the Eagles to get him. The last thing I want is for him to end up on another NFC East team.)
You know, as much as i hate Jerry Jones. Id love for the Eagles to have a villian owner like him who SPENDS MONEY!!!!

Everybody in the NFL spends money. It's not like the Florida Marlins.
And while this much maligned ownership does have its faults, there are worse owners out there that "spend money". Snyder and Davis are examples.

Not really, they use it to lock up players.
I can't believe the guy with the $5 Walmart jersey is calling the Eagles cheap

It just seems like they see staying under the cap as there biggest accomplishment. Like they wouldnt go all in to win it all...
Two things -
1) They DID go all in - the year they brought in TO and Kearse. But to the FO, it's a much better plan to build using the draft and not bring in a ton of FAs (who Spuds has called "other team's rejects"). Of course, this actually means picking good players in the draft.
2) The large upward increase in the cap means that teams are able to pay more for quality players, and only those who are either a)overrated, b)on the downside of their careers, or c)suck will see free agency. The only way the Birds can really build themselves up is to either go through the draft or do a trade (like they did for Dante Softserve).
And for all the talk about FAs, there are more examples of them not really getting the job done here (Shawn Barber's second coming; Howard, etc.) than them working out. But is that the fault of the player or of the FO thinking them to be better than they were? You decide.

For example, the Birds need a TE. Unless they pull a trade or LJ has a big change of heart (which seems unlikely), they'll go into the season using Celek and Schloboat. only guy that's at least close to LJ's level is Dallas Clark, and you just don't want to put a ton of money into someone who you're not sure is a player based on his play or based on the fact that his QB is the second-best in the league.
It's an area that needs to be addressed, but I'd caution against the hype that will come with Celek and his huge catch against the Cowboys in December.

The only time this regime ever signed big time players in the offseason were Kearse and T.O...
Aside from that, they bank on building from the draft. And that their "system" can create their own big players.
The problem is their drafts have been shaky of late.

You are right. Those were bad signings. And they did spend alot on Howard too...

They spend, but they rarely pull the trigger on HUGE free agents.
That said:
- Record setting deal for McNabb.
- Record setting deal for Kearse.
- Very big money on Shawn Andrews.
- $10 million upfront for both Howard and Curtis.
- T.O.
- Big deal for Cole.
That's a lot of money right there.
In terms of going out and signing a FA to HUGE, HUGE money, Kearse and Runyan are the two who would stand out. They were both instantly among the highest paid at their positon in history when the Eagles signed them.
they re-sign a lot of guys for big money and sign a lot of upper-middle tier FA, though.

Even with the Redskins, you could argue their point against the Eagles - the Redskins do business horribly and they've been to the playoffs the last 2 years, while the Eagles needed a late surge to make it in last year.
It's a point you could argue, but if you look at the other successful teams (Indy's a great example), it's best (and cheaper) to go through the draft than to bring in FAs a la the Redskins.

And Seth said it best - WIP (for entertainment purposes only) will only cloud your mind with vision of grandeur and toss realism aside (like f-d's review of "The Crying Game").
The people that talk on WIP (for entertainment purposely only) are nimrods. Both callers and hosts.

I don't think you can call what the Skins do bad business until it actually affects their dealings on a year-to-year basis. They don't care about throwing away money, so that doesn't matter
