From PFW:

Don’t read anything into Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs’ empty statement recently that the team still has plans for WR Brandon Lloyd. Nothing could be further from the truth. Though Lloyd might find himself active on a given game day, our sources say that the team already has written him off past this season and will enter the offseason with a big need at wideout.

Anyone interested in a talented headcase WR?

Well, the Redskins are always interested in overfilling a position with another cast-off veteran, so I'm sure they'l---oh wait. Nevermind.

Sorry, #2 at best. Can't even stick with the Skins now, so I don't see the point.

I doubt it's a serious decline in ability- he's only 26. It sounded like a personality clash- and at this point for the Eagles with McNabb probably on fumes here, what could it hurt? From what I saw of him in San Fran- he'd be an upgrade

I don't know, he'll be 27 next year, and will have had 700 yards as his best season. He can't even get on the field now, which 99% of teams will still allow, personality conflicts withstanding.

personality conflicts withstanding.

Actually, it was slightly more than that- and that truthfully makes it a moot point:

His problems with the D.C. coaching staff include "...dropping f-bombs on receivers coach Stan Hixon during 2006 OTAs (yeah, his first spring practices with the team), going ballistic on Al Saunders at halftime of the New Orleans game, having at least three blow-ups around teammates on the sidelines including when he threw his helmet and was benched the next week and lost his starting just for good to Antwaan Randle El late in the year."

T.O.-lite, but Andy could handle him

sigh

Lloyd is a decent WR and I liked him earlier in his career, but they hated him in SF, they hate him in DC, and he's not a game changing talent.

If you're going to put up with the headache, at least do it for a guy worth the hassle.

After 2 organizations have basically given up on him, I'm not even a little interested.

Watching (well, listening) to a bit of the 49ers-Seahawks game, and two things become apparent -

1) The REAL Gold Standard holds the #4 pick in the draft, assuming things continue on their pace.
2) Shaun Alexander is SO done. People made reference last week about him playing scared, which is death for a RB.

By your logic, I'm guessing Randy Moss wouldn't have interested you either.

No I'm not comparing him to Randy Moss- just sayin'

Lloyd hasn't been a productive receiver. Even if you think he's a good receiver that's been surrounded by crap, he hasn't helped his case. Even with the mess in Washington, he's done enough to ensure that he won't sniff a starting job.

He's just not worth it, especially in such a "complicated" offense such as this one.

Check the line directly above that one. If the guy was talented enough, he might be worth the hassle. Lloyd is just a fairly talented WR who never put it together and is as much of a PIA as Moss/T.O./Chad Johnson.

If I'm putting up with nonsense, I need a little something in return on the field.

Ok, ok- I didn't say "GO OUT AN GET HIM"

I wondered if anyone remembered him flashing superb hands the way I remembered him- and if anyone knew what the possible reasons were for him not breaking out. I seem to remember that his problem in SF wasn't his play, but the BS and the $$$?

Yeah, he had great hands (at times), but he didn't have the rest of the package, or he believed in his hands a la FredEx and just stopped there.

And for all you've seen him do, I remember one pass where he definitely did a Ricky Watters over the middle. You sure you want that?

Funny you should say that- I heard the newest items in the Supah 5 clothing lineup were "FOR WHO, FOR WHAT?" tees and jumpsuits

If you can't break the starting lineup due to a starter's injury, and you're replaced by JAMES THRASH, then you should probably just retire now. Don't even think about pension. Just...retire.

That's what I'm saying Bass- from the little I've read, it (benching) wasn't because of diminished skills- but whatever.
