True which means he will be in green next year. Lets face it, the eagles know a little something about linebackers who cant pass physicalls.
At this point, knowing both will be an upgrade, who wouldyou rather have seth? TS, AW or GO GO GADGETCONG.

The Giants were close to a deal that was cut short after doing a physical.
I think Wilson's agent will be returning a call from the Eagles after all at this point.
First IMS, then Seth, now Mlewis? Is there an echo in here?

The guy played all games last season. 113 tackles, 5 sacks, 1.5 forced fumbles. He may not be able to pass a physical, but tht doesnt mean he cant play. Shit, he is a big upgrade to what they got now

Apparently Spikes is close to being dealt, but no mention of to who. I'd love him for the right price...could be interesting.
If he can't play anymore, he can't play. If he's most of the way back, he's an upgrade, though.

It's kinda sounding like Spikes might actually be coming to Philly. if not, they are one a small number of teams that are very close.
There was also a report from Eckel that the team is shopping Darwin Walker and one of the teams they contacted was the Bills, so he could somehow be involved.

FD, where did you here philly mentioned? I havent heard a peep on a local or national level. This would turn a good offseason into a GREAT offseasob. It would solve a lot of ???? Allow them to draft a DB or LB that can be groomed to start and not face immediate pressure to make an impact. Same thing with GO GO CONG.
I hope they pull the trigger.
Walker and a 5?

just heard on nfl network that Spikes is being traded and the two teams mentioned Philly and the Giants... no mention of if either was close to making a trade yet... also mentioned was that now that Monte has been signed Walker is on the trading block, they mentioned three teams, but it was noisy so I didn't catch who they were, the source was the trenton times...

It will be a double kick in the nutz if the Giants land him. Not an unnatural feeling.

Agreed. Spikes would kill in either system, and I'd hate to see him in a Giants uniform. Hopefully they realize the importance of trading for him so the rival doesn't get him, let alone the presence he brings.

Wouldn't you think the Giants are a little more desperate to trade for Spikes? After all, the Giants..
- cut two starting linebackers in the offseason
- actually value the linebacker position
- just had the bottom fall out on the Al Wilson deal
- aren't afraid to trade draft picks
- aren't adverse to making aggressive, risky moves
None of that bodes particularly well for the Eagles.
My guess is that Banner et al will stay in the game long enough to drive up Spikes' price and then watch the Giants "overpay" in the trade for him. Then Denver would be in a weaker position, and the Eagles could try to nickle and dime the Broncos in a lopsided trade for Wilson.

I agree 100% Talon. I dont see anyway how the Giants are outbid here. They have had a HORRID offseason and desperatley need to make a move, if for nothing else than morale.

Well, what it all comes down to is what they're able to offer. Sure, they could package 1, 2 and 3rd round picks for him, but I'm not sure they're that desparate. Remember, they have 2 linebackers to get as starters, and need a new Runningback with Tiki gone. They have to look to the top of the draft for that.
What it all comes down to is how much is he worth? The Eagles have a 'chip' in Walker to move, and if the Bills are told a 3 and a 4 from New York, and Philly tells them Walker and a 5, let's say, the Bills may ask the Eagles for Walker and a 4. Walkers probably better than most DLineman they could find around the 3rd round.
The Giants on the other hand may be willing to part with draft picks, but they don't have players to move, and they have big holes in the secondary and the linebacking core, not counting the mentione running back situation.
I don't think the Giants are walking away with this. If it gets into a bidding war, the Giants may screw themselves for one linebacker who just turned 30 in December.

I would be very happy if it happens for Walker and a 4th, but I'd be surprised if that's all it takes. I really hope I'm wrong.

Well, I think Banner is licking his chops over that scenario, too.

Dont forget that the eagles are without their 4th rounder this year. This should be interesting, but I really dont see this going the Iggles way. One can hope.

What was the news on the reason AW failed his physical? If it's something minor, than the Giants may end up reconsidering or downplaying the trade there, hoping to save thier picks. Likewise, they may try to unload some of their bigger stock first for Spikes, then work with what's left for Wilson. Both healthy, that could be a very painful front 7. The Eagles really need to make them pay for one of them, because if they back off, the Giants could have a sick D.

It's a smokescreen. The Eagles have no intention of acquiring any of the linebackers in question, they just want to make it appear that way to the fans. You really think they just made a mistake on Fowler's contract? You really think they want to trade for 30 year old linebackers? No, it's a charade, and they are perfectly content with letting Gocong and McCoy battle it out in camp to see which one sucks the least.
Half blue.

Well.......I'm not keen on Takeo...older and injured....
But, Talon, that is precisely what the Birds FO looks for in a FA. They just don't resign their own players that approach age 30.
