Rather than run the risk of upsetting the statboys by sullying their Phillies thread, let's take it here.
"any of the resident beerheads who shared recommendations here durin the playoffs got any comments on beers listed above, have you tried this copperhead ale and/or based on the above would you recommend anything else?" - Seth
Haven't tried the copperhead ale, but I have tried Otter Creek's Copper Ale, and I highly recommend it. If caramel flavor with a little hoppiness and malt is what you're after, this will deliver.
Since you seem to be all about the IPAs, you must like the hops. Here are a few IPAs and APAs I'll recommend:
Heavy Seas Loose Cannon IPA
Blue Point Hoptical Illusion
Boulder Brewing Co. Hazed and Infused
Red Seal Ale
Sierra Nevada Torpedo

The Arrogant Bastard ale Seth spoke of is also named quite appropriately. I had a serious problem finishing the whole pint.
For something with the taste of Smithwicks without that flat English pull-tap taste, try Murphy's Irish Amber.
Do you guys get any of the Real Ale or Live Oak brewing company stuff up there? They've got some pretty good offerings.

It's been about 10 years since I've had it, but when I worked in Arlington, the local Irish pub, Ireland's Four Courts, used to have Caffrey's Irish Ale on tap. I seem to remember it was comparable to Smithwicks but with much better flavor and a smooth and creamy texture. Irish Red Ale isn't my favorite style, but this was not a bad goto beer for me, especially if I wanted something lower in alcohol before driving home.

Coors Light is Vitamin Water without the coloring and added nutrients, although Vitamin Water probably has more alcohol.

Always been partial to Newcastle- aye, just a man with simple tastes
Why is Coors Light even being discussed?
Kinda like bringing up Simply Red in a R&B/Soul discussion

Simply Red has their following: "All colors"
Now back to the beer
Sweet Water 420 (Atlanta Georgia)
DPA-Denver Pale Ale (Great Divide Brewing Co, Denver CO)
Bell's Oberon Ale (Galesburg MI)
Bell's Lager (Galesburg MI)
Old Dominion Ale (Ashburn VA Formerly)
Old Dominion Lager (Ashburn VA Formerly)
Highland Brewery Gaelic Ale (Asheville NC)
Highland Brewery Kashmir IPA (Asheville NC)
Magic Hat Not Quite Pale Ale (Burlington VT)
Clipper City Brewing Company Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale (Baltimore MD)

Ooooooh, that's a good one. Had some when I was in LA a couple of years ago, and I can find it elsewhere now.
I'm always happy to see Anchor Steam on tap when I go somewhere.

Union Jack's in Glenside had a Hop Fest this weekend, it was great. For $11 you got to try a flight with 4 different beers, and they had 3 different flights. My favorites were Pliny the Elder and Left Hand 400 Lb. Monkey

KB,
Can't get it in SC. The two stores I go to down here say the Distributor can't get it in stock. I have seen some great reviews on it and wanted to try the two hearted ale myself.
Too popular and not enough to go around I guess.

Has anyone else noticed a major disparity between Newcastle in a bottle and on draft? There's always a difference here with any beer, but it's so drastic with Newcastle it's like drinking two different beers.

Surprise, surprise, flesh is a beer snob.
Newcastle is fine. Beats the crap of of the normal domestic swill you see on tap in a lot of places.
There is always a place for a mild brown English ale.

Absolutely. In the bottle, it seems to almost have a semi-foul odor associated with it, and this seems to affect the taste. I haven't noticed this odor on tap, and the taste reflects it.
