Just heard it's not done yet, and they're offering a non-guaranteed contract, so they can cut him without any losses

Give 'em 2 mil and be done with it.
He's done more for this franchise than ever expected.
Let'em retire a Sixer with all our romantic memories in tact.
Corruption? There might be 2 guys worth keeping on this roster, so settle down.

I'm sure a lot of Monday Nighters have their refund policy in-hand.
The "deal" better be done, or this 'boost' in sales WILL be refundable :)

Yeah on the news last nite at 11, the pez dispenser headed Jamie Apode said that the deal was to be announced this morning. Expecting a press conf. to be this afternoon and If / when it happens Im tuning in.
Finally some FUN again, as pointless or short lived as it may be.
Ive always loved A.I., cant help it.

Welcome back, AI.
If he gets cut on Tuesday, then knowing he played his last game as a Sixer makes it all worthwhile.

Thanks for the link.
Call me a sucker, I bought the sentiment as 100% genunine and served up with a good dose of humility, hook line and slide sinker.

Yeah, i thought it was real too, unless he got Meryl Streep's talent to cry on cue while he was away. he's never tried to be liked before, and there's no reason to now, anyway

No, I completely disagree.
He is what he is- and its because he is NOT a phony that those blemishes are so plainly evident to us all, and held over his corn rowed skull by the anti- AI crowd.
The utter disregard for 'fallin in line and doing the right thing' where practice is concerned, punctuality, having a team before self attitude 100% of the time, just to name a couple of occupation related examples for AI- the reason these things a) are evident to us and b) dont change is because to a FAULT, he is exactly as he bills himself, on the inside, in 'real - life'.
Right or wrong, and plenty of times wrong, he sticks by what HE thinks is right- regardless how skewed and seemingly impossible to understand by most.
Dude wears his emotions on his sleeve- In watching his pressers or reading his interviews etc, Ive never had the feeling of being duped or if its just for show like you do with other athletes.
He doesnt adopt a "When the cameras are rolling" character like McRib - the corny, stale, intentionally aloof and "you arent in on the inside jokes" type of demeanor that marr everytime McRib speaks anymore. While I believe McRib to be corny, I don't believe that away from the cameras and scribe he's that way. --> Phony.
Hell, just look to this wk and all the hub-bub (bub) with Tiger.
A bigger Phony in recent memory? The guy's entire image was that of Squeeky Clean. Even his on the course swearing was dismissed by most in the media as his being super intense, or competitive, or driven.
You know why he got that pass? Cause of his otherwise sterling rep.
No longer.
Exposed.
Human really, just human, but see if he gets passes anymore. By some perhaps, but not the overwhelming majority as before.
If It were Iverson drawing Technicals for routinely using foul language on the court, the haters (got i hate that term but anyway) in the press etc would just add it to the guys rap sheet as just another example of whats wrong with the guy.
Its fine to not like how AI ended things here before, or the not tipping servers, or the posse, or the Mom and her signs, or the infamous stories from the casinos and city line avenue eateries where supposed fights were commonplace, as well as public urination in potted plants, all that.
Hell I know guys that dont like him solely on how he LOOKS. Cornrows and tats = bad guy. Meh.
I prefer to look at the guy on the court. I'll never get stiffed by him on a tip, or be in the same places as he to where I'm likely to get caught up in 1 of his posse's meles etc.
But I dont know how ANYONE no matter how badly they dont like AI for all his baggage, could call the guy a Phony.
That presser yesterday was (IMO) a guy who was really surprised himself to get choked up at the notion of a homecoming. I believe that he was suddenly overcome and it wasnt 'cool' but this AI didnt try to stifle it or play it off.
Where maybe 5 yrs ago he may have broken it up by laughin at himself and broken up the awkward silence save for cameras clicking away as he tried to compose himself, he just seemed humbled and overcome. I am not suggestting a light went off and now he'll be the 1st one there to practice and the last to leave, but i believe that a lot went thru his mind yesterday and it caught up to him.
I recall how it was when he came back that 1st time with Denver, and how honestly stunned he seemed to be at his reception. His remarks following that game were to the effect of maybe he'd be able to come back here afterall and have a house here w/ his family hen his career was done like he wanted to at 1 point.
I think AI gets that he's beloved here, despite his warts, and without having to promise to be wartless going forward. Why? because he's not a phony and to promise a 'new man' would be the epitome of phony.
AI- far from perfect, not the 2000 model, and not saving this franchise. But Im glad he's back, glad he'll retire a Sixer, and for all his faults, appreciate his on the court work and the fact that unlike so many of the Stepford Athletes with their cliches and phony sentiment etc- what you see is what you get. Tatted up, corn rowed passion and genuine sentiment where yesterday PC is concerned.

yes, i believe the tears were real, but that doesn't make him any less of a phony.
he cries now, but he didn't even come to fan appreciation night that infamous game with chris webber.
he plays hard, but won't practice or sacrifice for his team... that's why he's playing for the sixer's currently on a non-guaranteed contract.
the bottom line is, he cares, but on his selfish terms. he straight up quit on the last two teams he played for. that may be him being "real", but its still bullshit as far as i'm concerned and make his tears meaningless.
