He feels weird? That’s weird.

While we are playing "whodathunkit," how bout the wildcard leader being in the East? That was a virtual impossibility a week ago.

This is from August:

"Put it this way, before the All-Star Game, it was feeling a little, maybe like I had a tiny bit of tendinitis in there, not bad," Lidge said. "If I would have just thrown regular at the All-Star Game . . . it probably would have gone away, because I had the other 3 days off over the break. But that didn't allow it to recover . . . It didn't help it at all. I don't want to say the All-Star Game caused it to be bad, but obviously it didn't help it."

Hypothetical scenario:

If the Mets and Phils tie for the division as well as the wildcard and need a one-game playoff to determine who goes to Chicago and who goes to LA, would you pitch Myers in the one-gamer since it's his turn or just use Happ, hope you win, but either way you'd have Myers to start game 1 of the 5 game series?

Marlins shouldn't be able to do this without Hanley. This is an absurd kind of streak they're on,

well, it helps when the opposing manager is charlie manuel. that fifth inning, from leaving myers in too long to bringing in fucking rudy seanez to an intentional BB with no outs, all on him... he's just brutal. i just can't take him anymore.

could he not see myers had nothing? was this possibly being monitored in light of pitching after a short start?

how good is the marlins FO, by the way?

You really have to look at the Marlins Twins and A's to realize how pathetic the Pirates and Royals truly are. Small market isn't a handicap if you have brains.

Reds up on CC 4-2 in the sixth. Micah Owings with a key (PH I think) 2RBI single.

Phils up 1.5 now...

Some douche on ESPN Radio last night was saying Pinella would tank the Mets Series so the Cubbies would end up playing the Phils...

Time to step up and close em out guys

Well, BI, I have no reason to doubt the guy said that, but he must be the most utterly clueless baseball "analyst" ever born. How Piniella or any breathing being could think the Phillies are a more favorable matchup for Chicago than the NYM is beyond me.

Not only does Chicago crush LHP (Santana, Perez), but the Mets' bullpen is such that if the Cubs were within 2-3 runs at the start of the 7th inning, they'd stand no worse than a 50/50 chance.

Again, though, he may not get the choice, the Mets are seemingly determined to see the Brewers break their 26-year postseason drought.

Mets fans actually cheered when Castillo got hit with a pitch.

Jason Marquis is actually a decent-hitting pitcher, so I'm not shocked like I was when Felix Hernandez golfed one the opposite way off Johan Santana.

Cubs tack on another run and lead 9-4. The Mets bullpen has pitched 6 innings tonight.

Rally Towels are pretty lame, but nowhere near as bad as thunder sticks.

I'm not a fan of gimmicks or artificial noise. Although the Phillies are nowhere near as bad as the Sixers/Flyers in that regard.
