Detroit tried to buy a WS, instead of emulating their formula from a few years back, which had a mix of both home-grown talent and veteran free agents. They were set up for failure after Cabrera ballooned to 250 and Dontrelle continuted his downward spiral. Speaking of which has he made it back to the Bigs yet? He should pull an Ankiel, he could swing a decent bat.

Somehow I don't think he really has a problem collecting his $29 million paycheck at Lakeland.

Lost in all the Howard and Rollins dick-sucking of late is that Carlos Ruiz is swinging a pretty good bat.

Very impressive outing by Happ. Wish Durbin didn't pitch into that second inning.

I seriously believe the Mets' bullpen is the weakest link of any contending team I've seen in pro sports. Worse than mid-90s Flyers goaltending, worse than 2000 Baltimore Ravens QB play, etc. They have made the phrase "no lead is safe" very literal.

The Mariners bullpen during the Griffey-Unit-A-Rod days was by far the worst I had ever seen for a contending team, but the Mets pen is pretty close.
It's pretty bad when Mets fans at the Nats Park are audibly booing Heilman.

Eny I saw they had the tying run up in the 9th.
I will say this, there is nothing worse as a fan than having a lousy bullpen.
Though they have been okay as of late (the amazins)

NTFF, that was my favorite part of the game. It's at the point that my seven-year old stepdaughter audibly boos him from my living room.

Right. This was a night where they were up 7-1 by the 4th inning, and STILL had to sweat it out. Now the starter only went five, but he's a minor league emergency call-up. Worst of all is J. Manuel's insistence on trotting out the same people (ie. Heilman) who've failed in their designated roles time and time again.

Having a shaky bullpen is definitely the worst out of any weakness in any sport because there is always that impending sense of doom that is impossible to shake.

Fck the FLA Marlins and their non-existant fanbase. Sunday shapes up nice, right? Little Phillies at 1:35, followed by some Eagles at 4:15? Nope, the goddamn Phillies game is at 4:10. On a Sunday.

wow, i was really hoping some foolish GM would open the vault for sheets thinking he was over his injury problems. probably not.
burrell and sheets could probably rescue lehman bros. for the money they are going to leave on the table this winter.

Yeah, they are both having extremely typical seasons, and are doing their best to remind everyone what "typical" looks like.

What the hell is that start on Sunday about? Since when do Sunday day games start at 4 on the east coast? Cmon marlins
I thought for sure that Sabaen would throw a boatload of money at Sheets. Guess that isn't a possibility anymore.

So which AL team signs Pat? Someone like the Blue Jays or will a dark horse NL team come out of nowhere and say "He offers us power off the bench"
