So Seth, I suppose you enjoy Flesh seeing which moves work out and which don't before he praises/criticizes them?

glenn, you're kidding, right? whose "trending toward the mean"? they blew it tonight with a depleted bullpen. the phillies bullpen has been one of the best all season. this isn't a debate, its a fact.
you posted here tonight because you got excited, as seth said, sour grapes style. for no other reason.
hope you enjoyed yourself.

I like how you guys act as if it's over, what with that tee-ball lineup the Mets trot out of the bullpen...

I just don't care about football, honestly.
I've seen the Phils erase a 3 run deficit against this team in the 9th this year

No, Flesh, I just chuckled at your denunciation at the NY guys for saying the Phils pen is "average". Yes, they have a great ERA this year, but it's being done by guys who are all pitching at least a run below their career ERA.
Madson, Lidge, Durbin, Romero, just to name 4.
Therefore, one would expect that their success MAY not continue, which would be "Trending toward the mean".
It has nothing to do with sour grapes or anything else, it has everything to do with you thinking you are a Sabremetric Genius waiting to be discovered.

well, apparently to counter the bleak lineup headin into the ninth, someone with a brain has cued up the ROCKY THEME in the ballpark, heard it on the broadcast comin outta the break. and with that im back to believing that a comeback is in fact- very possible.
go
phils....

let me understand this. my saying that the phillies bullpen has been great based on the fact that.... the bullpen has been great, "has everything" to do with me thinking i'm a sabermetric genius.
you are a world class jackass.

No, Flesh, you said that the NY guys saying their bullpen is "average", when you disregard the fact that they could have been basing it on their careers, and not just this year.

The SNY guys are keeping the "bandbox" talk going. Harold Reynolds just called Citizens Park a Little League field, despite what I read today, which is that statistically it's the most neutral park in MLB.

No, Flesh, you said that the NY guys saying their bullpen is "average", when you disregard the fact that they could have been basing it on their careers, and not just this year.
what in the world would lead you to that assumption? when you talk about a specific facet of a team, especially one as unpredictable as a bullpen, you deal in year to year. "well, bob, the marlins are about average when it comes to hitting homeruns." "but, aren't they leading the league?" "yeah, but they didn't last year"
do you not see how retarded that sounds?
and even if that was the guy's point, it would probably make sense to say something like "the phillies bullpen has been spectacular, but they haven't been this good generally in there careers, so i expect a falloff". which isn't even true except for durbin, but that's besides the point.
i'm just not sure how youre not getting this, except that i believe, as neag and seth do, that you saw the pen blow a game, got real excited and decided to post. so as i said, i hope you enjoyed yourself, but you fooled no one.
