Yes it's bland, but that's the point. If I want action you take a 5 min ride to the Wildwood boards and draw your pistols. When I was a kid, one of the main attractions of going to the shore was the quiet, sweet serenity of sitting back with nothing to do. Listening to Steely Dan on the radio aftert having cut the field with a real tractor. Sipping on Grandma's iced tea and waiting for Grandpa to come back from craps in AC so we can start the outdoor fish fry/pig roast on the spit.
Ah, the memories

I just want to say that if you have been a long time reader of the level, FDs fight assessment is a classic.

Talon,
That's just it, lemon-x isn't about the price. It is old school and new bars have glorified lemon-aide.

Cape May is my favorite beach place to go on the Jersey shore.
If for anything else but to eat at the Lobster House. Love the outfits the waitresses wear in that place. Get there early when it opens or you will be standing outside for hours. Usually go there every summer. Fresh, delicious seafood platters.
As a kid Mom would take us to Ocean City every weekend to 12th street. Haven’t been there in many years.
I live closer to Seaside and LBI now so we go down there and Point Pleasant beach.
Avon by the Sea is another nice day trip.
There is a great seafood restaurant near Avon by the Sea in Belmar called Havens and Hamptons. Not much to look at on the outside but the food is fantastic. Highly recommend if in the vicinity.
Went to Wildwood a few times last year. Watch the tram car please. Hadn't been there for years but we had a good time. I'll go back this summer.

Out of curiosity, munch, since you haven't been drinking, how do you know that Lemon-X is better than the new stuff?
Customer feedback? Other bartenders' opinions? Are you doing the old taste-and-spit? sourmixtales.blogspot.com?

My extended family had a pretty large farm (3 houses) in Rio Grande- spent every summer there on account of my father wanted to toughen me up. I WORKED. Roofing, field work, varmint disposal, septic tank removal, you name it, I did it.

Readin all these posts- does nobody have any nice Stone Harbor stories/memories to share?
That to me, is the only way to do the Jersey Shore.
'pound for pound' its the best.
The serenity of Cape May without the senility.
All the fun of Wildwood and Avalon, without havin to worry bout gettin your fight on.
Close enuff to visit Sea Isle, Wildwood or Avalon for a night at the bars but none of the issues of havin to live there?
Clean beaches, awesome eateries, no riff raff, great shopping, good bars/night life, if you like Ice Cream- Springers is the shore's best...
Havin your cake and eatin it too.
Stone Harbor folks.

Fred, this thread leads me to believe you and I have more in common that one would expect.
My sweaty job was selling the Inquirer and Daileeeeeeeeey News on the beach with my brother.
Got us plenty of money for the arcades.
Seth, in the next few weeks we will meet up for some cold ones in Stone Harbor. Fred's? With the frat boys in PJ Ryan's?
Another underrated hanging join is Caroline's in Somer's Point

Talon,
Last I checked, there is no alcohol in sour mix. Plus you can tell by sight. Lemon-x comes when shaken is thick and frothy. "Finest call" that I use now is watery and lemon-aide like.

When me and my buddies would rent houses downashore- it was always in Sea Isle; I can honestly say that we never went to bars there, we always threw keggers at the house, or went to other house parties. So you're saying Sea Isle has a great bar scene?
In another unrelated story, one time while we were down there, everybody went to the beach one day except for me and another guy and girl. We are sitting there, continuing to pound the keg, when all of a sudden a cop walks in the house and says "You're under arrest".
We are slightly confused, as we are all of age, and we ask him What's the problem. He says, "Come outside". So we are all like "fuck" and follow him out the front door. He suddenly turns around and points up at the house and says "Look."
We do and we see that some fool who was staying at our house has stolen the PizzaMan banner from the front of Angelo's pizza and hung it out the windows of the second floor. While it says "Free Delivery" it might as well have said "Come Arrest Me Now". While it DID look kinda cool, we were promptly arrested and taken to the station. After about an hour later we got the guy on the phone who stole the sign to come down to the station and confess- he had to put the sign back, and I guess all the charges were dropped.
For all the crap the I've pulled down there, the one time I get pinched is when I was totally innocentof anything other than staying drunk well past 9:00am.
Actually, these shore stories probably deserve there own thread, but I was too lazy- you know the drill.

Right, but in order to determine it as a better mixer, I would think someone would actually have to mix it with something first.

"Classic pair of sunglasses (aviators or Wayfarers)"
A good friend did research and went with some Ray Ban Aviators because they were 'Classic'. Well, just because something is classic and ubiquitous doesn't mean you have to fraking pimp them yourself. Jesus Christ guys, there is a million different types of glasses out there and SOOOO many people rock the Aviators. You're not a Tom Cruise the Top Gun pilot. You're ridiculous like Cartman's aviators in South Park. Go to the over-priced sunglass store and try on a bunch that fit your face style and buy from there. Instantly picking aviator makes you a SHEEP and I want to shave all of you. Also Wayfarers... YOU ARE STILL NOT TOM CRUISE or a Blues Brother or whatever. christ! if you want to show some 'zaz', do it in your own way.
Here's how to pick your glasses:
-THEY FIT YOUR FACE physically
-they fit your face style-wise
-they are polarized and block the entire UV specturm (even if you have contacts that also block UV rays)
-affordable for you
-also buy a set of 'knock around' glasses so you're not wearing your over-priced glasses all of the fraking time

I can't comment on glasses, since I'm like Imelda Marcos. I have 4 pairs of regular prescription glasses and 6 pair of prescription sunglasses.
I also have 5 pairs of sneaks that have never been out of the box.

Jacked back.
Honestly, why does anyone give a fuck what kind of sunglasses people wear?
Do you people get this upset about color schemes? Is everyone here gay?
Fondly,
TheTalon, who currently sports a fu man chu, which goes nicely with his cheap, knock-off aviators, and he doesn't give a shit that people think he looks like the cop from The Village People.

I lose sunglasses so often that knock offs / cheap brands are the only way to go for me.
I do like the iron man brand they sell at sports authority tho. The lenses don't spot as bad when they get wet and they are pretty cheap.
Anyway,
Went with my kids to go see kung-fu panda yesterday. It was really good. Most of these kids movies either go too far adult humor and kids don't like them (aladin) or too kid humor that adults find them brutal.
I'd say Kung-Fu Panda was along the lines of shrek in that adults can enjoy it too.
Best part of the movie was that they didn't let Jack Black do his "Jack Black schtick". He stayed true to character and was pretty good and I'm not a big fan of his.

is there anywhere to eat down the shore that doesn't involve an hour-long wait?
the shore might actually be habitable with a good 70% reduction in people.
