Can't read Donnellon without laughing after I read a column where he admitted crying during the movie Radio (seriously)

She was a good-looking girl, from what I remember. I had this maniac to my right all day though, pounding the table when Westbrook only got 4 yards on a sweep when he felt he should have gotten at LEAST 6. On the 2nd play from scrimmage.

ENY- somehow that will be typed up in the Post as "Flyers lie about injuries to lull poor hapless Caps into false sense of hope".
Ugh.

No, not allergic to anything, I just have very bad acid reflux. It's hereditary. Beer can double your stomach acid in an hour, or so my doctor tells me.

ENY- somehow that will be typed up in the Post as "Flyers lie about injuries to lull poor hapless Caps into false sense of hope".
Part of this big agenda to increase scoring in the league is more tightly-called games, which will lead to less physical play and doesn't favor teams like what the Flyers are perceived to be. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Used to be the referees swallowed the whistles in the playoffs, but not in this new system. 5-on-3's in the playoffs used to happen about as often as Philadelphia professional sports championships. And of course, the by-product of this becomes somewhat preferential treatment for superstars.
It's the same stuff that led to the idiotic shootouts. Just be glad Gretzky isn't still active under these rules-- the whole game would be played 5-on-3.

And the reason I posted all that, after quoting what Seth said, is to try to give a perspective that while the whole NHL and world is NOT out to get Philadelphia, there is a perception about the Flyers throughout the league that will not benefit them when they're up against the league's top players.
Just wait and see if they play Pittsburgh...

The late 80's were great for playoff hockey, the last 5 minutes it was basically a free for all, if you were gonna score you had to earn it.

ENY, you're only saying what I said in my 1st post today.
I dont think they're OUT TO GET them-
I think they dont want the brand of Hockey they THINK Philly is employing, advancing.
I also think they've got the wrong idea about how Philly plays, and its the rep thats goin to kill them eventually (flyers).

Well, that and inexperience on defense/Biron, but I agree with some of what you're saying.
The league got a glimmer of hope this year with attendance records being broken-- now they think marketing Sidney and Ovechkin through the roof will bring back the casual fan and make them a true "major sport" again. I don't see it happening... I wish the NHL could find comfort is being the mother of all niche sports.

And sometimes that's the most difficult lesson for every business to learn. Continual expansion is not always a good thing, or attempts in that direction.

I believe in order to draw Pgh in a series they'd first have to get past Montreal, which sadly, is a verrrrry long shot.

Expansion and the neutral zone trap killed this sport, no doubt. Now they're turning off the diehard fans by trying to turn it too far the other way.
Yeah, P-burgh and Philly could only matchup in a conference final. I don't like Philly's chances vs Montreal either, but Pitt-NYR/NJ would be a great series.
