Add to the fact they (NHL) want a match up of Ovechkin vs Crosby if at all possible for the sheer rating boost it will give the league. It almost seemed like the league and the writers wanted the Caps to get in so he they can all but give em the Hart trophy. Canada also hates Philly as evident with all the incredibly long suspensions they gave several guys for ol school Broad street bullying early in the year. So with the Russian Golden Boy I think he will get away with a lot.

PHANTOM CALLS APLENTY. BOOK IT.

The Flyers won those cups because of Bernie Parent. In his prime he was the best goaltender of that generation.

And the Flyers were goons back then but who cares. The Rangers and the Bruins weren’t exactly angles on ice. They intimated the shit out of teams. The rest of the league had there share of goons too. The Flyers just took it to another level of goonery. They knew they could win games that way with Parent between the pipes.

If the Flyers try to play the Caps like it is 1974 they will lose.

B/c that is what Biron did tonight.

The Capitals just flat-out wanted it more.

The Flyers lost this game by coming out flat in the 3rd period.

Well, apparently Thoresen took that slapshot straight to the balls and may have to get the Tom Green Treatment.

Thank God they blew the whistle there........

Thoresen loses a nut sack and the Flyboys lose the game.

Now that is a "tough" loss.

Did they think they had it won at 4-2 comin outta the lockerroom to begin the third?

Sure seems like it.

Should that goal (4th for Caps) have counted or better stated- should play have been allowed to continue when ball-less went down?

Absolutely not.

Ive seen play stopped for FAR less- and NEVER have I seen an injury ignored when there's already a power play situation- that essentially gave em a free and clear 2 man advntg which they obviously took quick advantage of.

I think that sucked- but its not the reason they lost,....necesarily.

If that were Drago layin on the ice the whistle woulda been blown faster than shiat.

Seth,

You sound like homer Coatesie.

Hehe.

No conspiracy is happening down in Cap Country IMO.

The Russian made a nice play on the Caps last goal. Bad D on the Flyers.

He was shut down the entire game up until that point.

The Flyguys played like the game was over in the 3rd period.

Biron was weak at best.

The Flyers will get some calls at home when the series comes north.

Huet looks weak as well.

With more pressure the Flyers could have put 7 on that clown.

They gotta play 60 against that team.

Are you on crack????

HOW IN THE SHITTIN FREE LOVIN WORLD did i come off as a homer?

I said it WASNT why they lost, I pointed to a flyer shortcoming as the sole reason FOR that loss- I simply NOTED how TERRIBLE it was not to call a T.O. there as Ive seen it done a thousand times in regular season games- and I was STUNNED that in a playoff game, when there was alreay a man advantage for the home team - that play wasnt stopped.

I am HOPING for some home cooking but I am not counting on it, however- that has no bearing on my thoughts on tonite's outcome.

Dude….

I thought the mention of “Coatesie” and the “Hehe” at the beginning of my post would get you to realize I wasn’t being serious.

If I could only post in blue….

You’re taking this Flyboys loss hard my Amigo.

YOU’RE STILL A FLAMMING HOMER!

I still don’t agree with your conspiracy theory on the Russian though.

And as Crackhead Bob would say, Don’t do dack.”

Sorry on not catchin the 'blue'- yeah, i am pissed, cant help it. Thought if not a well played game all around be either team it was very enjoyable (gimmie the goals man!)--- and to lose after jumpin ahead after comin back?

Frustratin is all.

This is a young team- and its just good to get a round of playoff experience in--- but I think they're better than the caps.

If they were facin the Pens- id be THRILLED with a game like tonite and very happy if they lost the series after winnin 2.

I dunno- Sunday's now a big game.

And again- Im there Tuesday if any of you sissy mary's are goin lemme know.

Ovechkin is going to get his goals, but you can't let donald brashear light the lamp!

Mike Green killed the Flyers last night. SO did shitty goalie play. I still think they can win this series, but giving a young and new team to the playoffs, confidence, early is a killer on it's own.

They need to bring more of a physical play. Ovechkin was laying people out all game. This just in...."He's pretty good"!

Here's to Thoresen keeping his sack in tack! "Send over a bottle of bubbly with a bucket of ice and a card. Have it say, "Tough break, get drunk on me. Use the bucket to ice down your marbles, Yours, Z."

Biron played great. I'm not a big fan of the guy, but he made three spectacular saves. Two other big keys to this one: Randy Jones in the lineup; Modry not sucking balls.

This team is flat-out better than the Caps. There's no question. It doesn't mean that they'll win. The caps have better pure goal-scoring talent. So it basically comes down to goaltending and defense for the Flyers. Biron has to play at the top of his game and the defense (i.e. defensemen and forward on the back-check) have to be outstanding to win this series.

Anyway, I just finished watching G2 on DVR and am totally juiced. This win, after the collapse in G1 means to me that there is not a psychological hole. Barring major injuries, this Flyers team will pull this series out.

Eddie O on the broadcast tonight said that the Flyers fans were making as much noise as the Caps fans. To which Mike E replied - I expect the same thing in Philadelphia. Bullshit. If there are a pair of seats next to each other available to a Caps fan, I'll be shocked into gayness.

Ive been to tons of games, plenty of playoff games, conf final games- and last nite's crowd/atmosphere has to be the most electric.

Unreal.

The cheapshot induced injury to Timonen is goin to reallly test them tomorrow nite- he's OWNED Drago. What's he had in the series- 2 frickin points?

Nice dive, by the way. No shame in that game, eh Pinko?

Nice face, while Im at it, Igor. Yikes.

Anyway- what a game. That move by Richards to back hand a five hole shot on a penalty shot was sheer beauty and balls (No offense Thoresen).

And Mike E should know better than to say something so stupid (bout a mixed crowd in Philly). That place was an (ugly, admitedly) orange ocean last nite. I saw 3 caps fans all nite.

Great game between the Avs and Wild. The Avs are pretty darned fast and the Wild were flat all night. Their goalie stood on his feet not on his head which isn't a good thing for a hockey goalie.

Loved the Flyers game last night. Just saw the intensity of the players challenging lots of pucks with some hard checks in all the zones. Biron was big when he had to be and that was also a big reason for that victory. What was the verdict on Timonen's injury?
