Jules, Downie is in Stevens' doghouse right now.

Stevens is Reid-like in his PC's and him calling Downie out means Downie's ass will be eating popcorn next to Clarke for the series.

Briere is terrified of contact and doesn't back check at all, but a lot of fans knew this before he came here. He's a skill guy whose specialty is on the PP and down low. However, as you mentioned, physical play will all but cause him to disappear.

Stevens overreacted on his bad pass. The number of shitty turnovers by the Flyers defensemen in game 3 was too many to count. There was a complete breakdown on the goal from his turnover late. Forget that the team was already down 2. Stevens should insert him back in to get under the Pens' skins. I'd love to see the Flyers wear them down for the Wings.

Like, Seth, it would be unrealistic to hope for a game 6. If it does happen, I think the momentum would make the series very interesting.

Not a fan of a soft hockey player. Just doesn't make sense.

BI, I know the d was the issue for the Flyers. I'm just saying that they are also missing a key player on offense. The future is bright. I'm worried that the concussions will add up on Gagne but those issues are for another time.

Seth, I'm HOPING he'll get some more ice time so he doesn't get psychologically scarred. Lots of mistakes that game and the kid wasn't responsible for all of them.

As for Briere, I don't mind him being a skill player. There are other skill players that also work hard and hustle. I'd rather a different skill player. Not a fan. And he could have at least pretended to forecheck Staal. Bitch.

Strong effort from all three Flyers centers, which has been the missing ingredient thus far (save Richards, who's been pretty consistent throughout the series.) But I hope that last night proved once and for all that officiating in the NHL is just flat-out BAD, and not designed to hurt one particular team.

I said to ENY yesterday on e mail how its not "anti-Flyers" etc, but the refs in this sport can dictate the flow of the game to the point that it looks like steering one team to victory.

You can also have any Pens fan(s) (I know of TWO) who both felt the need after the 1st prd. to text me and say that the game was rigged, just look at the in studio hosts of the intermission show on VS- with their "ORANGE/BLACK" tie/Suit combos.

Any the observation about the officials is correct. There is no conspiracy, they're just not good. Like I was saying yesterday, it's partly because of the zero-tolerance policy coming from up top that has been beaten into their heads. When the officials are actually allowed to use their judgment as opposed to calling everything a penalty (Like when a paper mache stick is broken by the slightest tap and is called a slash) they are slightly better.

So comes to an end another season of hockey in Philly. A surprising season to many and a disappointing ending to many as well.

Be interesting to see what Philly looks like 4 months from now when the first puck drops..

As one who is unable to emotionally commit to anything, and has a fleeting allegience to things/people....his behavior is typical here and imo unappreciated.

Rather than comment on them having a great season way above any expectations and bein beaten by the better team, he focuses on the negative----even in games in other series where the other team scores 1st and he TMs that the game's over---only to TM you back JUBILANTLY when the Flyers win.

Really pretty simple, Seth. Just pre-empting a loss by predicting it was a loss makes it more palatable to NEAG. If they win - well, its nice to be proven wrong - again and again and again.

I was excited for their season. Didn't like them getting smoked by the Pens. Be nice to get Gagne back and replace Prospal with someone that can play. All in all, not a fan of Briere. Sorry, Seth, I know you feel that he plays the role of "finesse" player but he is too much of a pussy to be a hockey player.

Hatcher reminds me of Runyan. Solid and not appreciated enough. Great season for him. Would have been awesome if it were extended a little longer.

Love the younger players and several promising prospects.
