The Prospal acquisition is a nice one, but I think it's a mistake if they try to replace Gagne with him.
I still like the Flyers' chances to make the playoffs-- Buffalo traded away their best D-man, and the Islanders just don't have the horses to overtake them. Washignton, however, could be a concern...

Hi, remember us?- Flyers
Big two games coming up with the Devils and then the ENY's. Going to go out on a limb and say they have a big victory tonight and then sh*t the bed tommorow on the Isle.

Nice turnaround/surge- at the right time.
I am goin to have to hit the BWW (Buff Wild Wings) cross the street tonite so I can simultaneously catch Flyboys, Sixdogs and NCAA stuff, cappin the evenning off a big fat Nova loss. Super.
ANYWAY- yes, very interested to see if they have any answer for the Devils.
They're gettin em at the right time confidence wise I think, and should they pull a "W" tonite, I think it would only further springboard em into the playoffs.
I know we're gettin ahead of ourselves, but unless they improve their seeding(which i also think is unlikely or tough at least) they're not in a good spot to win a round.
Near as I can tell, only the Hurricanes figure to be beatable for the Flyers , or an opponent whom Id feel at least confident they could beat. They'd need to leapfrog the Rangers right? Meh, lettin that game get to OT the other nite mighta been it.

Devils are in the midst of a Mets-level choke, or so it seems... of course, that just means Brodeur will catch fire and take home another Cup once the playoffs start.

I'm not so sure the Flyers couldn't give the Penguins a scare in a seven-game series...
If it's Montreal? See ya next year...

That Rangers game was almost a loss, and that probably would've knocked them out of the race, IMO.
But four games against the Pens and Devils? Not looking the best, and even after that, 1st round looks beatacular.

I see what ENY's sayin about Pgh, and KINDA agree. They matchup about as good as they could hope vs a team with that kinda talent- they seem to give em fits more oft' than not this yr.
If they won the 1st game, a slight psych advantage could take hold for Philly as Pens grip their sticks a little tighter not wantin to be ousted with that roster, to the team they owned last yr and finished dead last.

Nice to see both Philly teams finishing strong and looking like their playoff bound. I like the bitterness to be at it's peak as another Parade-less year etches itself into the record books.

They've got 2 games against the Pens to put ENY's theory in motion. They win both of those games convincingly, that can only help their confidence.

NTF Glenn.
Don't take this as a "Flyers pull the shocking upset" prediction... I would take the Penguins in such a series. I just think their best chance to at least make a series of it, and have an outside chance at the upset would be Pittsburgh, as opposed to Montreal or Ottawa.
For all the talent on that Pittsburgh squad, there is a decided dearth of playoff experience.

Exactly ENY, and GGB go kill yourself.
Montreal IMO marks the only team capable of sweepin them tho.

Remember though, all their failures vs. Montreal came when Huet was still in net for the Habs. Carey Price has looked good, but the playoffs are a different world...

Well, I just looked, and it turns out Carey Price did start three of Montreal's games vs. the Flyers, despite the fact Huet was on the roster. He was 3-0 with a 1.33 GAA.
So, um, yeah, that sweep is a distinct possibility.

The East is like the National League of hockey. Just no point paying attention to it, as the Champ ain't coming out of it.

You mean like the NFC this year?
I think there are four teams in the East with a legitimate chance of winning the Cup this year.

If your point is that no specific Eastern team would be a smart bet to win the Cup this year, then we are in agreement.

I like their chances against Carolina and Ottawa.
The Pens & Rags I am not thrilled about, but could see the Flyers beating. Same with NJ even.
Montreal? I had no doubt in my mind Buffalo would kill the Flyers in the 05-06 playoffs (and it took a superhuman effort from Forsberg in Games 3 and 4 to even make that a series). My point? Multiply that feeling of doubt tenfold if they draw the Habs in Round 1.
