Yeah, I referenced it when it happened live last nite.

You can CLEARLY see a doof sizin up his chances (fat guy in glasses, "Rock the Red" Jersey and dark hat on), askin someone below to hand up a cup or can or whatever (looked like a Pepsi One can>?) and then tossin in as his pencil necked balding pal shouts insults at Carter- before he's hit and after.

On the CSN feed, you can see the doof actually request another can to throw, but Coatsey gets him outta there before he's pelted again.

From the infamous Mike Wise's collumn today:

They fell to a more focused Flyers team that taught them a good lesson about playoff hockey:

Hit first, shoot first and ask questions later, preferably during the offseason.

Bottom line about the series comes from an astute Flyers fan, who said: "When your team plays like a hockey team and not a bunch of figure skaters with padding, you win. Our fans and team didn't beat the Caps up. We made them men. You're welcome."

Down the road, the Caps will thank you, Philadelphia, from the bottom of their Game 7 hearts.

Not bad.

Funny stuff. I didn't know there were any astute Flyer fans.

They just won a series in a 7th game in OT after being up 3 games to 1 and this guy is crowing like they swept the Caps 4 straight and beat their brains out.

I'm happy the Flyers won so I can watch another series but a bounce here or there and the Flyers would be playing golf this weekend.

I'll be a lot more impressed with the Flyers if they can win 4 against the dreaded Le Canadiens.

The buzz factor. These are two cities starved for playoff success. The Flyers advanced to the 2004 Eastern Conference finals, but haven't been to a Stanley Cup final since 1997 and haven't won it all since 1975. Montreal is the last Canadian team to hoist the Cup, but that was back in 1993. They haven't been close to winning another since. Yet, in Montreal and the entire province of Quebec, there is a sense of destiny surrounding this team. Whether that puts too much pressure on the young Canadiens or serves as motivation, time will tell.

The Flyers have depth up front, but they'll miss Knuble's leadership. Their defense can be exploited by Montreal's speed, and the Habs should have an edge in goaltending. Montreal in five.

Not much love for the Flyers by the media. I'll watch it anyway and hope for an upset.

It's hard to believe I was 15 the last time the Flyers won it all.

No wonder I can't watch hockey during the regular season anymore.

I will say the parade that year was probably one of the best memories in my young life.

I wore a #10 Flyers jersey at that parade. As the flat bed truck came by with the players and Cup on it, I threw my jersey and a pen up to Billy Clement to get him to autograph it and he did.

One minor problem; the flat bed truck kept going and I got crushed from the under tow of people. I couldn't move forward and I couldn't get my jersey back. I was swarmed under by the huge crowd and kept getting pushed backwards. Clement kept looking at me and shrugging his shoulders, holding the jersey wondering what to do. It was like a moment frozen in time.

Luckily my friend was in front of me. Somehow he managed to dart through the crowd and made his way up near Clement and got my jersey back.

Wish I still had it but it got tossed in Salvation Army bag years ago.

Lets Go Flyers and Lets Go Don Earl!

He hit the fkn post!

Or the Kings.

I'd say that Price gets the nod over Biron, despite how well Marty played in the series give or take.

I heard Knubel could be back as soon as game three. Anyone else?
I know when Richards tore his, he missed what, 7 or 8 gmz?

By all accounts the other day- Knubels wasnt thought to be near as serious as Richards.

Habs in 6, but would love to be wrong.

I agree that there's intense pressure on them and the Flyers are kinda pressure free at this point, and while I like teh Flyers depth, its not on par with that of the Habs who's defensemen I think can pose trouble for Philly as they can all move up.

We'll see.

Cant wait, regardless. You gotta crawl before you can walk, and gettin a round in under their belts w/ this group was a nice step in their ascent.

Playin the confernces best, who owned you all yr in the 4 meetings (Biron only played in 1 of those however) is another nice challenge that if nothing else can serve as a step in their growing towards a young cup contender.

Habs in six

Would be huge if the Flyers could steal one of these first two at the Forum (or whatever it's called now)

Could go 7 and then it's anyone's puckgame.

The great and terrible thing about the hockey playoffs is that seeding doesn't mean a thing

Thanks for that link. Love this:

A reporter once asked Worsley which team game him the most trouble. Gump quickly answered, "The Rangers."

He was on the Rangers at the time.

Being a retired street hockey goalie I always liked this line from the Gumpster.

Worsley was a seemingly happy-go-lucky soul who would bravely stand in his net, collecting over 200 stitches while claiming "my face is a mask."

In 1972-73, the Flyers continued to progress in the standings, Favell winning 20 of 44 regular season games, while going 5-6 in the playoffs.

Ironically, Favell, who recorded his third consecutive season with a goals-against average of less than three, was traded to the Maple Leafs for Parent, on July 27, 1973.

If the Flyers don't make that trade to get Parent back I doubt very seriously the Flyers would have won those Stanley Cups.

this team still has way too many muckers and grinders.

yes, Bam Bam has improved the team immensely, but there were many times in this series that the Capitols looked like the big brother playing keep-away from the little brother.

they were faster, made more accurate passes, had better puck control and more accurate shots. grit and desire won this series, but wont win a stanley cup.

goodbye jason smith and hatcher, hello to 2 young defensemen one bigger and stronger, the other a skater/puck handler.

they also need one more true sniper. more if they lose anyone this year.

btw, did you see hershey has ray bourque's son, and he scored 30 goals this yr. its amazing how a franchise with a lot of young exciting players has another waiting in the wings, while the flyers have a bunch of rj umbergers and scotty hartnells. nice players but wont strike fear in the hearts of the opposition.

ok, i'm done
